this may sound stupid but I figure asking is better than google searching...
The dude i bought my 90 from said that there was an oil leak on the valve cover I got under the car and sure enough there is oil on the tranny bottom end and pretty much all over there. I checked the heads and it seems clean, although I haven't steamed the engine since I just got it...
Anyways, I'm sure I do have to replace the valve covers can you give me some direction on what I need to be aware of...
Thanks,

If you need new valve cover gaskets, get the Ford OEM type steel core rubber. The cork gaskets are crap and the metal sleeves fall out and end up in your engine. I would also check the front and rear of the lower intake. The gasket there tends to blow out over time and causes a serious leak.
BTW... Kev's working on getting the site back up...

Mine also has a leak I checked the Rear Main Seal and its good. Its coming by the heads. I was also told the Intake Manifold.
I wouldnt say its the rear main just yet. If the valve cover gasket is leaking at the rear of the head, it runs down the back side of the motor and looks EXACTLY like a rear main leak. Ask me how I know.
To replace the valve cover gasket, remove the air intake hose, disconnect IAC, TPS, and the EGR sensor, remove upper intake, remove valve cover bolts and remove the covers. Install reverse of removal. Use the FelPro blue silicone gaskets. Reusable and 0 leaks.

This reminds me to get a spacer for my intake. I love being able to remove my valve covers without having to remove the upper first.

What is Cee1ngRed and Stridertactical. :look:
90% of the time it's the valve cover gaskets. As previously posted '90 and older 5.0s have cork gaskets which fail over time. '91 and newer 5.0s have the steel core rubber gaskets which are simply the best to use (over & over &....). You can pick up a pair from your local Ford Racing dealer.

Agreed.
I had the FRPP 1" Cobra/GT40 spacer on my old 5.0
It made it easier when doing stuff like that or swapping injectors.
Guys, be aware that a spacer increases the length of your intake runners increasing torque insignificantly but decreases the engine's peak rpm.
