too bad he doesn't know that the water isn't supposed to bead on your car...it leaves deposits on the bottom of every drop and it eats through what you just put on the car...
good products let the water sheet off the car and almost dry instantly

what I say?
the water is not supposed to collect on top of the cars in beads like that because it leaves deposits under each drop...
it's better if it sheets off the car so you have less water actually collected on top of the car...

I got the info from Meguiars...on their forums and from their workshops
something to do with the kind of products they use...some products are designed to bead the water, and some are designed to let it sheet off...
but it makes sense doesn't it...when the water sits on top of the car, it leaves deposits on it that could take a long time to rub out when you're drying...
I notice it when I take a long time drying my car that where the water beaded up, it leaves a lil circle that I have to use quik detail or something to rub off when I dry...

As long as there is a good coat of wax there then the beads shouldnt leave any residue.

Yorchi, You are a Fool. How can water sheet off a flat surface? Water needs gravity to sheet. If the water is on a flat surface, its not gonna move with out gravity. If that was the side of the car the water would have sheeted off. The whole point of the Wax is to bead the water because the wax repels. The whole point of that pic is to show how tightly the wax makes the water bead. The high quality waxes have the tightest beads.
FYI, Handz use a Spray Bottle to Get That effect

to be honest, i wash with meguiars gold car wash and wax with their waxes. the water doesn't normally bead on my car, but that could just be me.
but, the water bead test has always been the benchmark for wax products. :whoknows:

Water sheeting or water beading. Age old debate.
Actually, it really doesn't depend on sheeting or beading, but the very water you use. The residual spottings left from your hose after you rinse are simply calcium and magnesium deposits.

I couldn't leave this one alone.
MEGUIAR'S has been selling pro wholesale products for decades.
Is there a consumer line for Meguiar's? Yes. Some people just like a 1 Step process, wipe on, wipe off product.
Is there a Professional line for Meguiar's? Absolutely. And I love it...and hey, it really is made for the professionals in mind.
If you use Chemical Guys, that's cool. I'm willing to try it out. But I usual think: If you find something that works for you, use it!

I use to use The Mr. Clean spot free system. Tried it once on my Black Vert and yes for the most when the water is used through the filtration system it sheets. But what I noticed was (only on my old black GT), was the paint was kind of dull afterwards (it didn't harm the paint).

I find that the stuff I use still leave light spots if I let the water just dry on the car...but the spots wipe off like nothing

yeahh, its pretty cool
but kinda expensive haha
StriderTacticaL
07-15-2009, 12:54 PM
Yeah...I've looked into getting some spot free rinse kits but they are expensive and more importantly have to have te filter changed really often or something
To my undertanding, the only type of water we can use for a true rinse and walk which will leave NO spots whatsoever is de-ionized water or something

Well from the last time I looked into getting something like that...it's not a very consumer friendly thing...it's pretty industrial.
Either way, I use optimum no-rinse to wash my car, so I only need 4-5 gallons. I just pay the $3/2 gallons and be done with it

Ideally the best way to wash a car would be to hit it with a foam gun then wash the car with a pressure washer and then use a blow dryer to dry the car...never touching the paint
The meguiars guy said that every time you are touching your paint you are either improving it or degradng it....so true
