Last night was on 605 south when someone in a white luxury sedan decided to cross over 3 lanes of traffic without signaling or looking, taking out my mustang in the process. Havent had a chance to look under the hood yet (car is at CHP tow yard) but damage seems to mostly be front driver side. Was leaking black fluid at the crash site, which I assume is power steering fluid (did an oil change a week ago so oil would have been pretty clean still, but ps fluid was dirty). 1 tire shredded, 1 rim most likely bent, drivers window, drivers fender, maybe drivers door, front bumper, and windshield. Might be more, I couldn't get a great look at it in the dark of night. I will talk to insurance tomorrow and see what they say.

Damn that sucks :(. Its gonna be totaled because its a old car and the amount of damage exceeds the value of the car. Hope you have comprehensive insurance so you're covered by uninsured motorist for the hit and run.

Didn't have collision insurance, didnt fall under uninsured driver because I didnt get the license plate of the hit and run car, so no coverage.
Paid to get the car out of CHP yard, but steering rack is shot and car is on the street (street sweeper is thursday). Going to try and find and swap in a used rack tomorrow just to get the car into my driveway, wish me luck.

Does your car happen to have a cowl hood, ST. Motorsports sticker on the rear quarter panel window, and is primered black? If so, I saw it at the tow yard next to my shop as I was leaving work. Was taking to the tow truck driver and told me that it was a hit and run and it made me think of this thread.

yes that was my car, were you the guy who asked the driver how much the owner wanted for it? if so he told me about that little chat on his way out. lol
the cosmetic stuff wont be that hard to do given enough time, but this steering has me properly screwed.

dave.. :D
the best part of a fox is building it the way you want. Actually the best part is everything is cheap, but building it the way you want is a close second.
Managed to swap the rack & pinion out and get the stang off the street, so now its parked in my driveway. The guy hit me so hard, it split my R&P housing into 3 pieces! I am in need of the following things to get it street worthy again.
1 front tire
(possibly) 1 pony rim
front bumper
headlight housings (driversise headlight and corner light completely gone, dont want to replace just them because the rest are severely faded)
driverside fender
drivers door, glass, and trim bits (possibly including mirror housing)
front windshield
I am unemployed so is gonna be a long slow process getting this thing back on the road. Now that its off the road it seems possible though.....
If anyone parts out a 87-93lx I have a list of wants.

I HATE HIT AND RUN DRIVERS!
My 95 Accord was rear-ended once by a hit and run driver and even though i had a license plate i still got fvcked over because it was registered to a fake person.
and my insurance would not help because i had a license plate, thus an "owner". :angry2:

Got fenders, bumper cover and headlights from Andy yesterday, drove down to san diego today to get the door, window, mirror, and trim from Jason. I am really glad I got to meet both you guys, and thanks much to both for the parts.
Fenders, bumper, headlights (no bulbs yet) installed today. Need to swap motor/wiring into the new door and then mount it.
parts still needed:
windshield
tires
87-93 lx taillights
radiator
headlight bulbs
It's starting to feel like I will be able to drive it again. :twisty:

Took a long look at my rim and decided 3/4" out of round does not qualify as functional. Will be scrapping that and looking for a replacement. radiator support is banged up, radiator is leaking, windshield is cracked, headlights have no bulbs.
On the plus side the door is mounted now, so car looks nearly complete. Headed to pick your part tomorrow to grab lx taillights and a pony rim (wish me luck yeah). When car is rolling, need to drive it to a radiator repair place, a windshield repair place, and a shop for an alignment, then done. Maybe get the drivers window tinted to match the rest of the car.

Bulbs in, taillights on, pony rim and tire mounted, radiator seems to not be leaking now (??? yay?), so only windshield and alignment left to do. Then spraycans, clean out the interior, and tint the driver window and should be like old again.

I was gonna tell you there is a mostly intact fox w/ ponys at the JY where I was today... its in rough shape but the body parts are good and the wheels just needed to be refinished.

Thanks for the heads up. I am headed back to pick your part in wilmington this weekend to see if there is a better rim and some random interior bits, the rim I scored holds air fine but has a dent on the front lip that is not ideal.

Will keep my eyes open this weekend. The 5.0 cars will be in the main lot not the late model lot so there is a chance.

Just odds and ends is what I need.... bolts, wiring harnesses and shit is the kind of stuff I want. Specifically right now, the bolts that hold the fuel rails and heater tubes to the lower intake. I cant find mine for anything right now.... :angry2:

I couldn't decide which grey looked like my car, went with "grey", and missed it by a few shades. This made me realize...I am going to have to paint the whole car to be happy with it. So now to decide which color or shade of grey to pick up next. I don't like the color i picked up, its too light.
Windshield is in, car is drivable again but I think its bent. A tire rubbed on one side but not the other. Did some caveman clearancing on one fender to get the car drivable (ford forgive me) so I am not exactly proud of my car at this point, but it will get me from point a to point b again.
I will take it for an alignment to see if the front suspension is salvageable. Nothing big seems bent but there does seem to be a bent bolt in the lower control arm, and balls if I can tackle the front suspension on my own.
