Oh, and FYI:
Lakers Championship Celebration
The parade to salute the 2009 NBA Champion Los Angeles Lakers will take place
this Wednesday, June 17th. The parade will begin at STAPLES Center and travel
south on Figueroa Street to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum where a victory
celebration will take place in front of an expected capacity crowd of 95,000
Lakers fans.
Beginning at 11:00 AM, double-decker busses carrying the players, coaching
staff, Lakers executives and City officials will depart from STAPLES Center at
Figueroa and Chick Hearn Ct. and travel a nearly two mile parade route along
Figueroa to the Coliseum where the "official" championship ceremony will take
place beginning at noon.
All Lakers fans are invited to stand along Figueroa to cheer the Lakers players
having just won the fifteenth NBA Championship in the franchise's history. The
first 95,000 fans to arrive at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum will be invited
inside to attend a ceremony during which City and team officials, Coach Phil
Jackson and several players will address the crowd. Coliseum gates will open
beginning at 9:30 AM for early arriving fans who will be able to watch the
parade on giant video screens in addition to being entertained by the Laker
Girls and other special guests.
Please be aware of the following street closures planned for Wednesday, June
17th. Figueroa will be closed from Olympic to Exposition Park from 8am-12pm.
Chick Hearn Court will be closed from 9am-4pm. Cherry will be closed from Pico
to Olympic from 9am-2pm. In addition, the Exposition Blvd, Martin Luther King
Blvd, Adams and Olympic exits from the 110 freeway will be closed from 10am
until the end of the parade.

man, the parade looked like it went off without any problems. now that the nokia center is directly across from staples [wasn't the last time they won in 2002], it was a pretty good decision to have the celebration at the mausoleum. lots of seating for the fans, it could be organized well and the players entrance through the peristyle was awesome!
this parade was a lot better than those earlier in the decade. now, with any hope, they resign both ariza and odom; then, they go after it again in november! :lol2:

I think both will be back... if not, it will probably be Odom who leaves. but if he does then we know for sure that all that weed he smokes and candy that he eats have truly damaged his brain.
Come hell or high water I dont think Ariza is going anywhere. He was personally picked by Kupchek who watched him from when he played for Westchester High.

i love how the crowd really got behind shannon brown when he was introduced. i like this kid and the way he plays. it's almost like winding the clock back 10 years and watching derek fisher as he was taking over as PG, plus he's got hops.
it's going to be an interesting off-season. :)

Thats funny because last time i checked these ball players are business men, Would you take a +5 million dollar pay cut just to stay with a team ?
My face feels like it's on fire fucking sun was blazing good times though.

I guess it depends on if I could get that 5 mil. from another team...
Especially with an economy in the shape this one is right now where most teams revenues are declining. That has a lot to do with how much they pay a player ya know.
And seeing how he isn't exactly a marquee name that fills seats or sells many jerseys either.....
Might be something to REALLY give some thought to.
I'm just saying....
