View Full Version : Repair bent shock mount?

For a 2005 Chebby 1500 truck. It was bottomed out in the desert. What kind of shop can do this repair WITHOUT removing the rear end from the truck. Need a budget fix. Not sure if the thing can be heated and bent back or if it needs to be cut off and a new one welded on?? Where do you buy new weld-on brackets?? It didn't bend the shock rod, but the bushing may be shot the longer it's like this....

I am trying to remember. I know of a pretty decent driveline/truck place in your neck of the woods but the name isn't coming to me. If I remember, I'll shoot you a message.

I wouldn't bother bending it back as the metal is pretty stretched and weakened at that point but welding a new one on shouldn't be that big of a deal.

That's kind of what I was thinking. All I can find online are universal shock mounts. This truck isn't custom enough to need some fancy billet weld-on brackets. I'd love to find a place that sells OEM style brackets...
