police officer backed up into me!

i was on my way to work and some cop reversed into my truck while we were both stopped in a street. what should i do?

i have insurance but they said to try and talk to the people at the police station first.

Its no different than if you got hit by a non Officer. You should have just asked for a report. The Officer doesn't own the car, so the city will cover your damage.

At least at my dept... failing to properly report an accident to a supervisor and not completing a report can get you in some pretty hot water. :beer::beer:

he filed a report but i havent had time to go to the police station

he just said fuck a couple times and then blames the dog for not letting him see out the back window.
