i don't know jack bout tires, but i'm up for some new ones. i've had the stock bfgoodrichs on since i bought the car, and their pretty damn bald now. so i have no idea if i should just buy the same ones that are on there now or buy something else.

a stickier tire would be nice, someone recommended nito 555. how do those handle in the rain? any input would be nice. thanks guys.

nitto 555 is oooold school. Get the new NT05 series from them.

Get something with a mileage warranty, and that will give you traction in the rain. Since you DD the car, I wouldn't suggest DRs.

I have these on my car now: http://toyotires.com/tire/pattern/proxes-t1r-ultra-high-performance-summer-tires

Tons of tread (10/32" tread depth) and awesome performance in both dry and wet conditions.

You dont race the car ever, nor are you making a bunch of power, so just get yourself a nice set of quiet, smooth, summer performance tires. OEM has lasted all this time, maybe try them....

I daily drive the Cobra on Nitto DR's NT555R and NT555's on the front.

I daily drive on General Exclaim UHP tires.

Surprising grip, decently stiff sidewalls, tread seems like it will last 40k? And -awesome- in the rain.

They are a great cheap option.

I'd not reccommend anything less than UHP type of tires, theres only one part of your car that touches the road!

200 bucks a tire is a little expensive for me... anything good at around 150ish?

Plenty. Do a search for that price point on tirerack.com.

i bought my take off BFG's (oem replacements) for a $125 for all 4 and they were new. The tires are sticky enough for a DD and good enough for a 1.80 60 ft if you ever race it.

My 20" tires were less than $150 each...lol

Gimme a ring, I have wholesale accounts with a couple of the local distributors and also tire rack.

I just got Tess some Falkens for about 150/tire.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Kumho&tireModel=Ecsta+SPT&partnum=35YR8KU31&vehicleSearch=true&fromCompare1=yes&autoMake=Ford&autoYear=2008&autoModel=Mustang%20GT&autoModClar=Convertible

someone told me something about running a taller tire... since i don't know shit about tires, was wondering if any of you guys could pitch in on this... i can run 235/50/18 and 255/45/18. which is better?

Ogbatman

255/45 is better. 50 is way too tall.

blackGTny
06-28-2011, 03:44 PM
they don't have those kumho's in a 255/45 though, only 255/50. fook.

Kumho's?!..

They have the worest road noise ever. Sounds like a bad bearing. Freak'n tires roar. I would never buy those tires again.

If you are looking to replace your tires in a year, and love tire noise, I recommend the Nittos. If you want a better tire overall, I'd look elsewhere.
