no, it only hits the 10% levels in areas where voters approved the tax hikes to help fund some projects or construction.
statewide, the sales tax went up 1%, so that the base was 7%. the differences will vary by county and then by municipality, again depending upon what voters have passed or whatever local legislation has increased the amount.

Sadly, I expect that california is going to get hammered again within the next 60 days, since even the "new budget" that just passed leaves california broke by July.
Exact quote: "Despite the budget fix enacted in February, the state is $20 billion short of what it needs to pay its bills over the next several months, says Mac Taylor, the Legislature's chief budget analyst."

The real question is why does California the richest state in the US need a bail out?
California is the only state that has enough natural resources and exports to survive as its own nation. But for some reason the state is one of the poorest and uneducated. :freak:

just like rich people can be broke, so an a rich state. Over spending. Debs sucks and it dont care if your rich or poor. I remember we sold a shit load of electric houses (or whatever they are called, heh) and a lot of our oil we sell to other states. The oil pumps right here in Montebello dont go to us. Hell theres 2 chevrons within walking distance of the oil field and its the most expensive gas within miles, haha. We just dont have enough shit to sell anymore i assume. Someone used the company credit card far too many times :look:.
btw im just speculating. I know nothing about state budget or nada. Just using my own debt/budget issues and exploding them to get a lil understanding, lol.

I think particular cities are in more Debt than others, but Le Governor can't say which ones, so he's trying to get everyone to help everyone to put them in the green.
My two cents!

Because the rest of the country would say no. Once you get out of california you find out how much of the rest of the country disagrees with california. Most refer to california as "The Peoples Republic of Kalifornia" they don't agree with the lack of immigration enforcement or the many welfare programs and subsidized living and the general practice to tax the rich and middle class to prop up the poor.
The general consensus is, if you choose to run things that way, don't look to the rest of the country to support and subsidize that type of living.
