Nice to have it home. Did some more cleaning up on the inside and crash was filling any holes in the car with anti burn out smoke protection (dynamatt) lol. Interior will start going in tomorrow, don't want to drop the motor in until after the lexan is done.

Started the car and heard a noise. You could hear it under the drivers side valve cover, pulled it off and found this. Bent the valves.

true, it could have been a lot worse. i think all the times ive seen that happen its been due to low oil/oil starvation. i still havent been able to figure out if the head is worth the cost to try to repair, or just scrap them.

Damage was very minimal, need to replace 2 valves and the journal/cam need polishing. My pistons still look almost new, coating still showing.

Sucks at least it isn't bad, just two valves and intake chain. (that is if you can really polish the cam/head and clearance is still okay)

When my car was at sinergy they had a car do the exact same thing, but they took off the oil pan just to make sure the bottom end was fine and found pieces of pistons/rods.

Its why when I let my car sit for anything longer then a week I disconnect the injectors and crank it over till it builds oil pressure.

Last time I let it sit 2 months and it took about maybe around 60 seconds of cranking *crank for like 10 seconds let it rest for half a minutes did it like 10 times*

then I usually crank for another 30 seconds off on and off after I see oil pressure just to make sure the cams have oil.

The good thing about a belt driven fuel pump is it takes a few cranks before the motor will start. Now imagine how many cranks it takes when your filling the lines, rails, and regulator for the first start up. That wasn't the issue.

Once again oil pressure was 80 at idle and over 100 when reved. Gauge is on the left of tach.

Greg has a Melling oil pump (those are billet gear), never heard or seen one fail. I think that 8.20 run at 8k rpms started something. Then over the last couple weeks of it idling/driving just kept eating the tower. Luckily when you drove it off the trailer to monks for the lexan, leaving it there, then loading and unloading it didn't happen then.

Heads are back on, cranked the engine with valve covers off just to make sure there is no oil press issues. Everything looks perfect.

I was thinking about the turn around time to pull the heads, get them done, and back together only took 6 business days. That's with 3 days at the machine shop and labor day.

Fired it up today... Those 235# Moran injectors are great! The idle is perfect and the car rev extremely clean/fast. Not sure if its the corn but the cars exhaust note sounds louder/beefier. Quick video..don't mind the smoke, had a little oil on the header burn off.
