ZAP!!!

Anyone know how many volts he just took there?

Too many apparently.

I'd bet it was over 20k. Yikes.

just to clarify, yes the voltage was probably extreme (in the vicinity of kevin's prediction) but voltage isn't what killed him.

the enormous amperage is what caused the bright flashes and what fried his entire body instantly, stopping his heart and probably boiling his blood until his arteries burst within his body.

either way, dude had it coming to him

thank you mr future engineer.

Please feel free to explain further... I'm a total dummy when it comes to electricity.
Probably fed by my totally unreasonable phobia of it.

no problem.

think of it as water flowing through a pipe.

Voltage relates to water pressure, the force applied to the water to make it flow.

Amperage (current) relates to the amount of water flowing.

Resistance relates to the size of the pipe, smaller pipe = more resistance to flow, a larger pipe = less resistance, more water can flow with less pressure.

Now go put your hands on the two terminals of your car battery. There are roughly 700 cold cranking amps coming out of that battery, but it's only 12 volts so that's not enough pressure to push it through your body(which has a very large resistance relative to copper wire). Now dunk your hands in water and touch the terminals (please don't try this at home), water conducts a lot easier so it will transfer through your body and fry your insides.

Now the idiot in the video... I have no idea how many amps were flowing through that guy, however it only takes .5 amps to stop your heart and kill you. If it were only 12V in the wire, he would've been alright, however the enormous voltage was enough to push the current through his body and make him into KFC. On the other hand, if it were 10k volts but only a few milliamps (.00x amps) then he would've had a nice shock and probably some injuries but probably not fatal. (again don't try it at home)

voltage and current ARE directly related, but resistance in the circuit will change whether a huge voltage will put a huge current or only a small one through your body.

Wow he like purposely touched it....probably didn't realize it was live and tried to use it as leverage to come down lol
