87 5.0 Coupe just 315rwhp

[MR.KNOCKOUT]

JP Performance built this street/strip coupe to run at our local 1/8th & 1/4 mile track. This video is when it was getting dyno tuned at Powertrain Dynamics by Steve. The car put down 315rwhp and 398rwtq with only about 200 miles on the engine.
mods: GT 40 Tublar intake, GT 40 heads ported/polished by Ben Alameda, Isky custom grind cam, mac unequal length headers with matching h pipe and catback. on the ignition side resides a whole msd ignition set up and an autologic custom chip. All on a 5.0 bored over 0.30.

1st time taking it to the track after recent dynotune. Best time of the day was a 7.9@85 mph but it was all over the track. Looks like the stock shocks cant handle the power. Lakewood Drags are coming aboard ASAP, front and rear!

5.0 Coupe vs Whippled Cobra ( vert)
8.2@84 to a 7.5@96mph

Coupe vs G35
7.9@85 mph to a 9.8 @70mph

My 60ft was a 1.60 on both runs!!!!

It was very Consistent even while being all over the track, thankgod it never got out that groove!

2nd time out finally put the Lakewood Dragshocks and managed to make it run better...

yeah. now its on h&r ss springs and bilstein shocks and struts.
as of track runs i have no idea. lol
he's only tooken it out twice to irwindale and fontana.
the first time it went to irwindale was because my older bro
drove it down the track but ill see if he takes it this thursday. :beer:

its a great ISKY cam
they are the GT 40 CAST IRON HEADS.

it had bbk lontubes with mac offroad h pipe and mac cat back

now it has bbk l/t's with bbk catted xpipe and 3 chamber flowmasters.
now its not loud at all.

lol yup. Julio is still around just not racing anymore.
yes he loves to run the gt40 originals on his cars alot.
all of his cars also have the gt40 tubular intake.

best time that day with the blown trans was a 8.1
before that i think the car was in the mid 7s

Makes me wonder what mine would have done when it was N/A with a tune and a few more tweaks. It went 7.99@86 on ET streets with the heavy 17s, no weight transfer, and no weight reduction.

Same combo now with boost and some tuning is going 7.3s@96. GT40 irons do work well. :)

I bet.. I had my other notch back in the days actually sane color as your car.. With MM SUSPENSION All around and it did great on the dragstrip.. Wheels never came up and that's same motor I just describeb hit the best of 8.2's on drag radials.. And 7.6 on the 100shot btw it was a tripple white notch

yeah, the last couple runs of the day were crap, went 12.5 missing a shift then 11.9 fighting to keep it pointed straight on the last run. The diff decided it didn't want to send power to both wheels any more and the clutch said it had enough. I decided to pack it up rather than risk wadding it up.

I had a 13.4 @ 121 when the starting lights malfunctioned. Pisses me off cause that was probably going to be a new best. Other runs were 11.60, 11.52, and 11.50

Yeah it would of been... U figure I go 11.94@115mph on the motor and u have that blower it should kick in pretty good.. 3 weeks ago I try a Lil 65shot so won't mess with the tune I just added a bigger jet on the fuel and it ran 11.54@117mph leading off thinking they would kick me out.. Dude I swear I was expecting 11.8-11.79 lol can't wait til I get some time and get my fuel system install and squeeze it pretty good! But your car looks good bro.. That's what I'm looking for another coupe to have road Rae suspension like my prior car..

yeah, the first pass of the day I ran the GT500. Had to pull back to part throttle cause it was pinging bad in 3rd and 4th at WOT. Still went 11.60, which surprised the hell out of me. Backed off the timing a little and went 11.52 the next run.:)
