I have a set of 4.10's I was going to install on my GT.. The Gt is basicly stock except for a catback,k&n,prochamber and Pullies. I don't drive the car every day, Maybe 3 or 4 times a month.... If I drive it anywhere its around town or maybe to work,(20 Miles one way)........ I really think the 4.10s will wake up the car but I don't want to over do it with the gears. Would I be better off with 3.73's ???????????

4.10's if its not your DD....the gears will make the car a whole different animal.

I have 3.73's and I love them and still do....but since I've realized that I am going to the track more and more often and I don't foresee any regular extremely long distance freeway roadtrips...I am putting in 4.10's soon.

Are you planning on hitting the track enough times to want the lowest times??

anything under 4.30's is weaksauce.
Go with 4.30's or 4.56's.
You wont lose any confortably at all.
i know i'll be going with 4.56's soon. ;)

last week i drove a buddy of mine s197 with 4.30s and i fell in love with them. I cant imagine how 4.56's will be now.

The only people that actually like 373s are the people that paid to install them and dont wanna spend more to upgrade :D

I daily drove my 96 w/ 4.56s 60+ miles/day. If it wasn't my DD back then, I would've gone 4.88s.

Go with 4.10s. You will be grinning every time you smash the pedal.....

Um I can't help but notice one major question that has gone un asked. He has mentioned his current upgrades but you need to think ahead here are you planing on other upgrades such as forced induction or the bottle if so 4.10s are not for you unless you want to just sit and spin traction may become an issue. I only happened upon this info as I am about to change mine out and got the traction lecture from Mark because I am going supercharged soon. Just some food for thought.

so i guess all the Termis(03-04 cobras) with 4.10's have traction problems, right?

StriderTacticaL

I am pretty sure the reason why 4.10's are better on termi's is because the T-56 first gear ratio is taller and it's a 4V so theres more RPM's to rev up to

I love the 4.30's in my fobra, and I love the 3.73's in my notch.

the difference is like 600rpm on the freeway, I run about 3k rpm doing 75mph in the fobra.

hmm Im really thinking on throwing these 4.10s in.... Im just fearing the high RPM...... Any recomendation on where to purchase a bearing kit???????

I guess the most I would drive is like to San Diego and back....

no less than 4.10's on any daily driven 4.6  .

Im running 4.56's and theres no bitchin here. I expect those who know anything about the T56 gear ratios to NOT use the T56 as an excuse :freak: . Dont fear the gears. No less than 4.10's!!! Even in boost, ask negro or ernesto about their PULLIED terminators that make more power than you'd probably want as is.....

my car sees about 20k miles per year. so its no weekend or 4 times a month bs here. Very much enjoyed everywhere I go.

easy there on the 4.56's. I have 7k RPM to play with and make more power up top. on a 2v i think 4.56's would be on the overkill side. The purpose of gears is to make more use of what you have. Going too short will suck if you dont even have that much rpm to play with. Id stick with 4.10's or 4.30's on a 2v and 3v

nick, definately go 4.30's bro. Youll love them. You have room to work with as you have those big ass rims.

I've driven mine with the 4.30 gears to san fransisco area and back several times, doing 80mph on cruise control.

wanna know what the mpg hit was with 3.27's vs the 4.30's on the same drive, same route, same speed? 2mpg  25mpg vs 23mpg

do not fear the gear.

i've taken my car all over the place with the gears in and contrary to popular belief, there are NO issues with driveability or any significant loss of highway mileage. :D

I can't believe I just noticed this post. I'll be running the 4.10's and a 100 shot. Traction wont be a problem. More food for thought I'll be running either a blower or a turbo in the near future. If I get a blower you bet your ass i'll be running 4.10's. To each their own. I agree with Darren. People who are happy with 3.73's are people who don't want to admit they should have gone with a higher gear.

WRONG! I drove a buddy's 4.10 fox and wasn't that impressed. The 3.73's are perfect for my combo and torque convertor. no regrets here.

That's b/c your average 5.0 has a weaksauce powerband. Mods like to rev more than the equivelent pushpud and are happier higher up in the RPMs.

Go 4.10s dude. First few weeks, your MPG will go waaaay down because you will be leaving every light light JohnfuckingForce w/ a shiteatinggrin. After that, it won't be noticable at all especially if it's not your DD. I still got 20+ MPG w/ 4.56s and I hauled ass everywhere.

oops thanks for the correction, the calculator says 150@5500rpm.
don't have the gears installed yet so it's only based on a calculator. i used 265/35/18, 0.67 final drive (t-45), 4.10 gear.

i barely ever hit 5500 on my npi, it doesn't accelerate after 4000 =D

Ditto, I had pegged the speedo at 150 on the way to vegas in my 02 GT w/4.10s...and I think she was still pulling...hard to tell with the top down....was actually wondering if I could be identified if I crashed.
