well that was easy.

Used this $40 fan controller kit -
Amazon.com: Hayden, Inc. 3651 Cooling Fan Control: Automotive@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41CK4DDR8TL.@@AMEPARAM@@41CK4DDR8TL
Used an extra 40amp relay (ford one, pulled from the mark8 I parted out probably, idk I've got a sweet box full of relays/breakers/controllers/weatherproof connectors from parting cars out :))
Used a $3 weatherhead adapter fitting to mate the temp probe to a coolant port on the side of the passenger side head.

The extra relay I used to reduce the load on the fan controller, as it only has a 25amp fused lead to power the fan, which isn't enough with a taurus/mark8 fan. So I have it wired up to get triggered by the fan controller fan#1 output.

I need to do a leak check and have the A/C repaired, but I plan to add another relay in the future to change it up so the fan controller turns on the low speed by temp, and the a/c lead on the controller will trigger the high speed when the a/c clutch cycles.

Should be pretty easy, following this diagram replacing the "0411 PCM" with the fan controller that I bought -

Mark8 fan fits in the stock shroud with just some minor trimming, I used 4 x self tapping screws to secure the fan to the shroud.

temperature probe for the fan controller installed into the passenger side head

tapped into the switched ignition lead to activate the fan controller so it won't run when the truck is off

was kinda lazy wiring up the fan, plenty of clearance for everything though.

fit's like it was made to be there, ftw

washed up the engine bay after I was done, as some coolant spilled while I swapped in the temp probe and was then bleeding the system while dialing in the temp adjustment.

figured I'd take a couple decent pictures of it since all my previous pics have been with the iphail

retrofit projector HID lights ftw...kinda...they aren't the brightest in the world but the cutoff line is pretty good.

overall the fan controller is pretty good, it comes on at an adjustable temp from 90* to 240*, I've got it set to come on at about 200* on my stock dash gauge, and it stays on until the stock gauge is at like 160*, it takes 2 minutes while idling to drop the temp from 200* to 160*, I think the fan should be fine LOL.

next mod will be an underdrive crank pulley.

also plan to swap the timing chain set and the front timing cover, nothing's wrong with it but everything else on the engine is brand new, so might as well replace the timing chain as it has ~115k miles on it and might have stretched a little.

yeah the weather is great up here, tomorrow I should finish up installing an alarm on the convertible, damn key broke off in the drivers door lock and I have no idea how to replace the lock cylinder without being able to turn the key...so it gets an alarm/keyless entry. Super PITA so far, but I'm pretty anal about wiring.
