Hello all.
I have been considering a mustang for a while and would like to get some guidance from the experts.
I own a 95 M-edition miata and 89 SHO.
looking for 88+ conv. to replace the miata. (need more seats)
1. Is there a checklist of things to look out for?
2. Which is more expensive to own/operate fox, sn95, s197?
3. 5spd or automatic? Why? I have 5spd now but conv 5 spd are getting harder to come across.
4. What mods are easy to screw up installing or can be really costly if not done correctly, ex. 5 lug conversion, 5spd conversion. Dont want to fix someones bad mod 1 month after buying a car.
5. How many miles are too many? 150k? 200k? I know care and maint. have a real effect on this but i do not want to buy a car just to have to do a engine or tranny rebuild. At what mileage are most people doing rebuilds?
Any other advice you may have is great.
Thanks
Jose

Lots of guys here can help you answer questions about what to look for in a used Fox body
Welcome to lamc Jose! Which body style do you like/prefer best? Some people will say stay away from a fox, sn95/new edge are better. Then others will say fox and sn95 are the same thing, and s197 > *
It's all up to you, your preference, your budget and what you're willing to put up with

If you can't commit, don't get a fox. You have to know what you're getting yourself into.

Thanks for the Welcome everyone.
Sean, i promise to keep the SHO noise down, would not want to run you for right to be on this forum.
I am looking for the bigger convertible mainly but did not want a sebring, eclipse, etc. The miata has not actually been problem free but the maintenance has not been that costly. 2 years and i have about 1500 in repairs and maintenance, (top, tires, timing belt, water pump). I lost count on what i have in the SHO.
If $500-1000 in repairs and maintenance annually is required for ownership that fine. This would be more DD than track star.
