My brother has to go to court in a couple of weeks for an "exhibition of speed" and "blocking traffic" ticket. [long story/short story: on the day of his high school graduation he did a burnout in his car and was popped]

Do you guys have any advice on what to do/say/not to say....anything positive that will help is welcome. thanks in advance.

He's gotta admit that what he did was stupid and dangerous, he's learned his lesson and not gonna do it again. Also that he realizes that driving is a privilege and not a right, so if he wants to keep his driving privilege he has to be a safe and responsible driver.

And lastly, he's gotta accept the consequences of his actions and not try to get out of it.

He's a just kid... tell him to go to court dressed like he has some common sense and offer his most sincere apology to the court and take his punishment like a man.

Yup. He has to take responsibility. I'm sure the judge will be pleased to hear a young man not try to weasel out of shit.

Yeah wit my experience in court if ur a teen u need to show respect by the way u dress and not come up wit lame excuses and just except whatever comes wit the crime. 90% of the time the judge will reduce the bail amount and allow u to do traffic school.

i don't think the judge will let him off the hook if he tells him that

one time i was going up the 405, dude in the fast lane was doing like 30mph. after getting tired of being stuck behind him i downshifted and raped back up to 70mph or so with normal traffic. what i DIDNT see was the CHP sitting in the carpool right behind me.

when i pulled over first thing i said was "well that was stupid huh?"

i got out of it.

own up. admit fault. say "yes your honor" and ask if possible for traffic school to keep it off your record. graduation = teenager + point on record = high insurance rates.

Lawyer up. If he has a clean record other than this, a decent lawyer should get it knocked out with maybe a cpl hrs community service. I know speed contest is tagged as reckless and you gotta do the whole SR-22 thing just like a DUI which means $$$$ ins rates. Not sure if ex of speed is the same? Lawyers are not cheap, but costs less than paying out the ass every month for the next 5yrs. A guy in OC got me out of my speed contest as well as our buddy in his old 2000 Cobra R.
