well i finally have my schedule for summer school so I know what hours I could work. basically looking for something that starts around noon. Im free after 11. Looking for full time hours. Anyone have any recommendations or places they know that are hiring??? I was let go the beginning of the year from my old job and decided to get back in school. Nursing school doesnt start till this time next year but some seminars and summer school made it hard to know what schedule and times i could work. Thats out of the way for now. I dont have any crazy made management experience. Always was the little-mid guy. Great people and learning skills :lol2:

thanks guys!

p.s highly recommend all you retail or 'customer service' folk get educated or learn a trade where you are much much less fire-able. It really sucks when you do a good job, are very well in with the company, but have to be let go because of the companies new financial situation. Reason why i decided to say fuck that bs and go back to school.

Good move Blanco.... A companies' financial situation can still get you booted, but when you have an education the amount of time that you will be looking for work will be shorter and if there is a decrease in pay it will be much smaller than if you dont have a degree.

Come work at St. Jude Medical. They hire thru an agency at first, and you become permanent after a probationary period. VERY clean work environment and a/c all year round. I'll go find the name of the agency for you.

Our second shift begins at either 2:15 or 2:30 PM.

word, it really sucked. I know the work itself wasnt a big deal but i had gotten prety good in and always had great reviews. but new management over spent their budget on stupid advertising bs that I and my coworkers told them wouldnt work and soon be told, we were both shit canned. Next day, 2 part timers workin min wage and no benifits were in our place. literally, the next day. owned!

Blanco, this is not St. Jude the hospital. We manufacture pacemakers and all related support devices. Sadly, one of the very few manufacturing jobs still left in the US. You'd most likely start at an assembly or packaging position. Very nice benefits here. They will also pay for your schooling once you turn permanent.

I'm taking a summer school class. 4 more to go to get my AA. Should've finished it right out of high school, now it's extremely inconvienent and exhausting (10+ hr day followed by 4 hrs class). I'm not too concerned about getting let go as I have a shit ton of people under me, but it will get me more money and look better at promotion time....

Good job Blanco, handle that shit:cheers:

im bridging to RN

never heard of an LVN making 9 bucks an hour. Every LVN i know started off at around 19-20. Perhaps your thinking CNA. Even thay start in the 12's or so. Unless ur hospital is really really stingy :donny:

Lvn's at the hospital I'm at get paid 10$. They do the RNs grunt work. Best money is made in RN in Surgery 52$ a hour. They are also cutting back on lvn's job hunt is good for RN lvn's not so much.

um i agree with the first sentence. but its a well known fact that the best a nurse could do would be working the registry. u get paid $$$ and possibly get ur living expenses paid for aswell, not to mention if u decide to be a travelling nurse, those are awesome jobs!

Hey man remember what I said...
When you go RN, remember one word. SPECIALIZE

Surgical nurse is the shot, man. Thats what my flake-ass sister does and can make as much money as she wants to. Too bad shes a lazy ass.

Anyway, If her semi-retarded ass can do it, you can do that shit too. Go get it mang.

Yes 5litra is correct. Destboi registery is fucking boring. Traveling is dope I was thinking about it but I'm afriaf to leave my comfort zone. Haha weak! Surgery RN work is cake just sit around look at surgery go online once your done filling out paper work. Other than that you just wait around till a surgeon or a surg tech needs something.

Plus the hours are kick ass.... Think about it.... when you go to the urgent care at weird times, you always see the parking space marked "surgeon" and its empty.
The only time a surgeon might be working weird hours is in EXTREME emergency. So the nurses only work those hours too.

If I didn't dislike people so much, I'd probably be an MD and if it didn't work out, O/R nurse.

Vslow
05-27-2009, 02:05 PM
4/40 are fucking dope! I'm still a intern 2 weeks but after that I have a interveiw for full time. I hope they don't try to low ball me. I heard they do it to interns if they do I'm gonna look else where.

I just asked my mum about any of her new LVN's and they just started one at 22/hr. Hell she was makin 15/hour when she was an LVN........back in 1993

most common openings are for "assembler" or "quality control". QC's start off at a higher pay rate then assemblers. Good luck.

Registries do well also.... but think of the advancement opportunities.
You'll be able to get a job just about anywhere in either spot, but as you move around/move up those extra certifications / experience will come in handy to get you more money right off the bat.

Correct plus as a OR nurse you can get certified to scrub into cases and make more money.
