I have a question that has been bugging me for some while now. Why is it that most Websites such as americanmuscle and tirerack suggest customers running a lower sidewall profile tire in the rear that in the front ? When i bought my rims and tires it had a 30 sidewall profile in the rear and a 35 up front, for me it looked strange. So anybody know why :whoknows:

it's to keep the overall tire height the same front and back.

my fronts: 215/55/17

rears: 275/40/17

you're not going to feel anything. the reason you would want an overall tire size close to stock is cause of gear ratios and revolutions per mile (i think). the bigger the tires the less revolutions. which affects the car/speedometer. if you're raked you're going to give yourself positive caster which depending on how bad it is, is going to affect how your front wheels center themselves after a turn.

you can easily change your revs per mile, i changed mine in 4 mins.....

I actually feel my car smoother since im running more sidewall in the rear. One thing i noticed though, the car doesnt pull and and accelerate as it use to

i suggest u sell the car and buy a gt500 :look:

jk, why do u refuse to get the alignment done? if theres any problems with ur set up, they will find it quick, and for 40 bucks ur saving $$$ on tires that ur gonna buy since its wearing faster. i just dont see your logic @ all....

:ugh: if you're cheap, I'd figure you'd want your tires to last as long as possible. Not gonna happen without an alignment.

cuz if you dont your ABS will shit a brickhouse since they'll be spinning at different speeds.

the 2nd group # in tire size is not a measurement of 30mm or 35mm, it's a percentage of the width of the tire, so it will vary based on how wide the tire is (first number group).

ummm, i thought the second number was sidewall height...

it is, but it's expressed as a percentage of the tire's width. ;)

so in my tire, which is 315 wide, the 35 sidewall is 35% of 315?

ABS is brakes. It has nothing to do with tires spinning at different speeds.

You can run different tire sizes front to back but not side to side. If you have different tire sizes on your drive wheels then you will burn up your diff if you drive a long time with them.
