ok, maybe the guy was picky on tires fine. but really if you order something and it doesn't come new then i can see where his problem is. If you order an IPod and you get it the apple on the back is scratched you would send it back cause you paid for an undamaged new product.
would i be mad if that happend? yes.
would i send them back? prolly not.

Ummm Im confused, so you think the guy is wrong for expecting the merchandise he paid for showing up in less than new appearing condition?
unfortunately with that attitude maybe retail sales isn't for you

why be picky about something that by nature gonna turn into one of the dirtiest parts of the car??? stupid. Their fuckin tires. Id like him to get a "pretty" set and then take a pic and post them after about 3 months on his car and see how "pretty" they remain....

by that rational since things get dirty you dont mind buying a shirt from a store that's you get dirty. i mean it's going to get dirty anyways.

Same could be said about a pair of shoes, with that logic why buy new ones get used ones from goodwill.
Also in 3 months if they look beat, at least the guy that paid for them was the one that put the cosmetic wear on them.
Id say if you cannot properly package your shipments then maybe there in the wrong business.

the guy has a right to complain. why? because he didn't buy those tires for their performance value. He bought them because they give him the race "look". Smudged lettering will make it harder for people to notice that "look" and give him the nutswinging he so obviously desires. Phukin poser...

i think the point that we're trying to make is that when you buy a product it doesn't matter what it is. you have an expectation for it to be brand new look brand new and not be damaged. You may call it pick i see it as the guy wants his moneys worth.
These are TIRES!!
They are not boxed up. They get tossed from UPS truck to the next UPS truck. They are held together with some cellophane wrap as you can see.
During the shipping process, a small part of the white lettering rubbed off...and as someone stated in that thread, they can lift them off with a fingernail pretty easily.
100% of all tires nationwide are shipped this way.
He will need to have at least 10 repeat shipments before they can arrive the way he expects them. With flawless sidewall writing.
This is the gripe I have.
Brandon, I think you called on the weekend. I am not open on weekends or holidays.
If you want some SS hoses with banjos, bring $60 with ya on Friday and I'll hand them to Kathryn to give then to ya. (Lemme know what calipers [Black Cobra/Bullitt/Mach1/Red Cobra] they're going to, so that I can attach the correct banjo bolts). I'm leaving for Dallas tomorrow night to meet a distributor.

sorry, no sympathy for posers.

maybe its because a race tire, but generally, people that buy race tires are not concerned with the look. Hence the reason Hoosier doesn't put a protective coating over the white letters. That guy is a poser and a tool for running a race tire on a street driven vehicle.
His gripe is with the shipping company or the manufacturer. My guess they will probably tell him to get a paint pen and color them in himself.

its not about him being a poser either. he's griping for the wrong reason.
again the point being that if i buy something i want it to be/look new and not have damage.

Take a read at what Ken just wrote. Good luck getting a tire that shows no "damage". It's not even going to happen when you buy them at a local shop. It's all in how the tires are shipped and stored. If you really want to gripe about that, gripe to the manufacturer on how they didn't put any protection on the letters.

Oh lawd! The inside of my new tailpipes is dusty! Why bother getting them in stainless if they're still gonna be dirty on the inside? Aaaargh!

I used to ship tires all the time. We sold restoration parts for the corvettes and we never had a complaint on tires. We wrapped each tire separate to protect the white wall or red line stripe then put two tires together with the white wall facing the INSIDE not the outside then banded the two together with shipping band not cellophane.
But I do love that since many of you don't agree on his taste, then fuck the guy he gets what ever is sent to him. By the way if those are comps 335 18 30's the guy spent around $1500

i can understand him wanting the tires to be in perfect appearance, but hoosiers, MT's, etc etc are just offroad racing tires. they're function over form products. and thus they're treated as such. other tires with white lettering or whitewalls are shipped/produced with blue waxey crap over the letters/sides to protect them. these are not.
since he hasnt mounted em yet he should just have the shipping company cover the "damage" and then communicate with the company he purchased them from to take "extra care" in their shipping procedures. it doesnt really matter if he's got a v6 or a 2000hp monster. he shouldve known what he was purchasing and communicated via the company he bought them from to take extra steps.

My brother bought some Hoosiers for his bug and as soon as he mounted them, the sidewalls were all cracked. He called Jegs and they "claim" all Hoosiers are like that and dont worry about it.:aaron:
they were probably old and sitting around
