Hey guys,

I have some oil leaks coming from around the oil pan area. At first I thought it was coming from the lower drain plug, which I replaced with a new Ford unit (newer style with built in O-ring). Cleaned everything up and the next day I get under the car to take a look and still find evidence of a couple of leaks.

I am going with RMS seal and the side oil level sending unit that bolts into the side of the oil pan....what do you guys think?

Personally if thats a pushrod motor that is probably coming from the rear main seal not the oilpan.
Or maybe the back side of the valve cover gaskets.

1 piece rear main seal available from FRPP.

Rear main seal, oil pan gasket or valve cover gaskets... Those are the major culprits. If you were a little closer, I could help you find the leak with my flourescent dye and black light kit.

It all comes down to who built your motor. I had Miz seal up my oil pan and rear main after the motor was built. I haven't had a drop on the floor in just over 3-1/2 years.

I sold perfect condition 97 accord because of a rear main leak. I took it to the mechanic and he said he would rather not have me waste my money since the leak did not affect the car and it would cost $500. I love the mechanic, but I hated the leak.

Never a drop...Oinker's motor is on the floor of my garage right now, dry as a bone.:afro:

Well as long as you dont count the PS fluid that came from that stupid pump.

Fresh new one piece seal FTW.

Also... how did that motor drop turn out? I worked from Thursday to Monday... No BBQ's for me :anal:

It came out fine. I'll post a couple pics of the aftermath / current condition in a little while. No sweat on the BBQ man...gotta make that money mang. Maybe you can make it when we do the reinstall / first fire up.

BTW, Big D was asking me today if I was gonna make it down to S.D. next month... I'm in. What about you and Emi? Gonna make it?

My Ranger leaves it's mark everywhere it goes in the form of power steering fluid. POS steering box.

I have an engine oil leak from my Mustang, but it has 160K on it now and it's difficult to tell exactly where it is coming from. Probably the intake and rear main seal, neither one has been changed in at least 80K (more like 100K for the intake).

I'll make it down to SD next month. oh wait. :look:

I just received my schedule Saturday and shows me working that day.... but I'll be there anyway. I'll have to find some poor criminal to give me some overtime, so I can deduct early and make it on time.

I'm sure you'll have no problem.

You gonna stay overnight or you just gonna head back home afterwards?
