That is why I asked as why would someone pay 1700 to buy an axle that their car already came with.

Cool beans Ken.

Bump for a good deal. It cost me about that much when I built my rear end, I have the same exact setup.

Not for a complete rear end and axle.

Nope, not at all.

This is not a "take-off" of the factory stock 28 spline rear axle assemblies.

This is a brand new assembly that comprises of 31 spline internals.

Add up all the components that you can also find on my site.

Then add a labor charge to assemble, install the gears to spec etc.

Other 28 spline incomplete units are even more expensive by the time you're done adding everything up and not including the labor to assemble it.

Here is an example:

http://www.jegs.com/i/Ford%20Racing/397/M-4006-B355/10002/-1?CT=999

This unit is not fully assembled, does not include rear axles either and is a 28 spline setup.

Not to mention the shipping cost for Freighted items.

This is a nice piece for any weekend racer. Free bump too.

Nah, but some random customer called in and bought it.

He's replacing his 03-04 Cobra's blown IRS.
