I'm probably going to let off a little early on my first few passes. I'm worried about breaking into the 11s without a roll bar and harness. Not sure if it is 11.99 or 11.49 these days.

edit: looks like it's 11.49 so i should be safe unless I get some killer traction and have a tailwind. :)

well we could always call over or email and find out how much action they have going on the bracket side....because if there isnt much, then they will have to do SOMETHING while they let the bracket guys rest and cool off.

there aren't many signed up for brackets. Go to the roster page. Although i don't know how up to date that is.

Anybody else down to do some Monday TNT? They have like 200 total spots, 1/2 for bracket and 1/2 for test and tune. They have about 70 bracket spots left, and about 30 TNT spots open.
TNT is 60 bucks... but you will get as many runs as your car can take.
I think I'm gonna hold off from Irwindale on thursday and slap on the DRs for Monday.
Its a GM event but they will let anyone sign up to race since they are definetly underwhelmed by the response so far. But as we all know far too well.... thats typical So Cal car folks. :D

I know tech at Fontucky was always more strict than the guys at Irwindale on my vert, even though some of them work at Fontucky too. :shrug: might give a call....

SOB, looks like I at least blew the intake manifold gasket. I fired it up tonight and noticed a bunch of smoke, which I thought was from me messing with the spark plugs and cleaning up some spilled oil. Got under the hood and it squirts out coolant from what looks to be the passenger rear coolant passage at the intake manifold when I rev the engine. I'm hoping it's not a blown head gasket causing excess pressure in the cooling system.

So, instead of wasting $60, I'm taking the XR4Ti. Maybe I can get into the 13s with it. :( Sucks, cause I really wanted to make a few changes to the XR before racing it again, but I needed to order those parts.

BLUE 01 cobra has done a best of 10.98 but only managed a 11.3 today.
sn195 with turbo kit did a 12.1 but needs 2 step bad.
2001 cobra red one did a 11.9 with non ported eaton at 9lbs and dynos at 460. MT Drs and front sway bar and no weight reduction.

In case anyone is thinking of going out for TnT today (monday).

I was able to get in contact with an organizer (sunday about 8 pm) and he said the list online is pretty close to correct and that they still had 30 spots open for TnT and 60+ spots for bracket.

These spots will be available first come first served at the gate tomorrow..... I'm going tomorrow.

Got a bunch of runs ( you suckas shoulda went out there ) and could have had tons more than the 7 I got...
best run was a 13.5 @ 109 mph on a 2.0 60 ft. Couldnt get it under that no matter what I did. Anything more aggressive than slipping it from 2k rpm resulted in run wasting tire spin thru 1st. :angry2:

made a few changes as the day went along that kept the trap speed moving in the right direction. It wasn't great because I was hoping for a 12.99, but I'm ok with it because I got some good practice. I do wish I had the time to swap to my DRs before going over there.

Good times though... even though it was a GM event there were quite a few mustangs and other vehicles out there taking advantage of the open track.
My G8 buddies had some good runs too.... I'll post their vids when the go up.

My only run was a 14 flat. That's why I wish I could've made this event. Perfect time to practice. I think a good tire would've helped you out a lot. Still half a second faster than me for now. :cheers:

Yeah you have said that number before. But you keep avoiding the big part of the equation... what was the trap speed?

If its anything like I think it is (101-105) you dont have a chance in hell of catching me unless you get me off the tree, and I doubt thats gonna happen.

Interesting. I honestly can't recall the trap speed. With the car dying on the topend of the track, it might have even been high 90's. Not exactly the debut I had pictured. All I wanted for my first time was low 13's.

well again, Like I said even with my shitty driving, if you dont get me off the tree, you will be behind me most likely.
A car that traps 8-10 mph more than you is not going to let you maintain a lead that is less than about 300 ft. in the average race.

I think kevin could easily go mid 12s with good tires and a hard launch. Maybe high 11s with a smaller pulley and a good tune.

Get the Eibach drag spring kit and the Tokico drag struts.

Nope... its not gonna be a drag car. Just a good all around street performer.
If it goes mid-low 12s as a 302 car, I'm fine with that.
Its gonna get pretty much the same suspension as the Oinker with the exception of the shorter H&R Super Sports instead of the Race spring. I have a set of 03/04 front arms I want to toss on at the same time as the spring swap, then later I go with a PHB and TA.
