Okay, being new to the super charger thing, bare with me. I am pretty sure it is the clutch.

Today when I stepped on it in 3rd gear (does it in 4th as well), the blower kicked in and the engine reved, but the rpms stayed the same, then rpms surged for a bit but wouldn't maintain the rmps...I didn't smell anything??

But this is the clutch right???

Note: There is a major trans/clutch rebuild TSB on the GT500, but I want to know what I am talking about.

how is it that the blower kicked in and the engine revved but the rpm's didn't change?

Thats what I am trying to figure out...might be the tranny

I'm no expert, if it was the clutch the rpm's would rise but the car speed would stay the same :whoknows:

that's what i was thinking...

describe a little more what you mean dude... engine revved? you mean it sounded like it was doing work... and the blower made noise, but the rpm's stayed the same? so you couldn't accelerate at all?

did the engine rpm's go up without affecting vehicle speed?

the transmission is either gonna work or it's not man. if it's making some BAD noises then it's the trans, and if it's grinding or not going into gear then it's the trans, but there's no way for the trans to "slip" like the clutch would.

Belt slippage????

....need more info man.

were you on the gas? light throttle? idle?

from what you're saying it could be belt slippage, clutch slippage, fuel filter clogged, injectors misfiring, motor misfiring, a whole sleu of things.

first things first.... pull the codes

Sounds like ur belt is slipping.

Things under warranty.

3/4 to Full throttle.

I am thinking belt slippage as well, now that I think about it.

Just so I understand.

Between 3/4 and full throttle you experience a situation in which the supercharger is getting louder (higher pitched) but you are experiencing wanderinng rpms and no consistant-with-revs increase in speed.

First and foremost before you schedule an appointment with the Ford dealer check under the hood, especially around the belt. If the belt is slipping you should see signs of it (ie: irregular belt wear and fraying, belt material in and around pulleys, etc)

Now if I remember correctly you made no adjustment to the blower pulley, right? The only thing you changed was the JLT carbon fiber intake and a tune from ol Greg.

Part One....Yes.

Part Two...Already done (appt. on Monday), there is no apparent belt wear or fraying.
And now that I think about about it, if I had belt slippage you would hear that...like a squeal/groan..right???

Part 3...no Pully change just the tune and JLT (the dealer is cool with that)

I am reversing my thoughts..I am pretty sure it is clutch

Belt slippage????
by "rmps" do you mean "mph"?

if so, it's driveline related

In that case I am with Blind on this one. Driveline it is. (Gotta love the no recall just TSB BS that the GT-500's have for this issue)

Either way, your lucky ass is covered and then some and god help the service rep that tries to steer you wrong as I know you well enough that they will get the ass chewing of their lifetime.

have you sprayed down the motor recently??? I dont see a stock pullied car experiencing belt slippage. If it was the clutch the rpm's would get away from you but you'd go nowhere. As if you had the clutch in.

It really sounds like a missfire. As i said if you sprayed the motor down recently (even months ago...) water gets in the cops and will cause a miss, usually #4 and #8 cylinders. A bad COP could be a culprit as well. Not much to look at especially since you havnt really modded it fortunately.

Flash the stock tune back in. They are cool with it until your motor pops, then they WILL blame the modification to the ECU, and there is nothing you can do about it as that is a direct link to engine failure. They tend to get kinda anal when there is a ~$15K motor on the line out of their pocket. And if they have any reason to hook up the OBDII tool, they will know it's 'chipped' and I'll put money on it that it will be documented. Also, if they do a service reflash for updates, it will override your tune and lock out your Predator/SCT tuner. You will need to send it back to Diablo/SCT to have it unmarried from your old ECU file. Since you're basically stock, you can run it fine on the stock tune and it only take 2 min to flash it bcak to stock...

I'm not sure the OP described the problem correctly...but here is a common way to test the clutch.

If you're in 4th gear, you step on the gas, the RPMs climb, but the car is not increasing in speed, then your clutch is toast.

Simple as that.

If the description of the problem is different, then OP needs to better explain what he is experiencing.

COP ???

I spray down a bit, then used an air compressor to blow everything out..about 2 months ago??

Jeff call me monday. You can swing it by and if its the clutch I have contacts at the dealer.

Coil On Plug. Water gets in at those cylinders because the COP covers have a slight opening in the gasket back there to make room for the COP wires to reach all cylinders. Worth a check. Just takes 5 minutes.

still dont think its the clutch. The RPM's would shoot away if it was slipping as if you had the clutch in and started reving....But if it is, warranty ftw
