hey, let me ask you something. when you had your vB site up, did you have the db on the same server as the forum?

It is being worked on as Damon said, and if it doesn't get fixed, our contract is up in two months or so.
Since the site has been backed up regularly, the transition would be all but seamless if we decided to move.

it's gotten a little better since i contacted tech support mark. we'll see if it acts up again though. it's almost like clockwork.

Yeah, the site does seem snappier, and I personally have not had any db errors for a while now, but that might just be my experience.

my "db server" is a mysql cluster. you're sharing the server with god knows how many people. at ipower we had ~600 customers on one machine. its just the nature of shared hosting plans.
i prolly host like 80 something sites right now. socalhorsepower.com being one of them.
if you really want a rock solid solution, get a VPS or dedicated server. i got a bunch of mine at server4you.com

It's more like a fox, there's always something wrong with it and is never 100%. :look:

Congrats should go to Damon for all the work he has been putting into this site.
Sure things are slow as hell right now, but I trust he is doing all he can.
Don't give up D.
====================
Its ironic how as I was posting this.. it took 5 trys! LOL
"The connection was reset
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
moments.
* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.
* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web."
After a LONG ass time of not loading this site, I just go somewhere else.
It just sucks that LAMC will never have a good hosting company. These problems have plagued the site for ~5 years now, and even after losing all our archived threads and all other important cherished data, this trend will never end.
Just sad :(

actually, it's been pretty good with the load times today. maybe the last contact i had with the host helped, but i doubt it. i know what the problem is over there, but they just don't seem to want to listen.

Derek seems more than willing to host the site. Why not just go with him :whoknows:?
