Been years since I bought a used cars.

What do I have to do with the DMV these days to get it registered, do I have to get it re-smogged, etc.

Any input would be great.

you do a bill of sale, get the copy of the smog certificate done within 90 days of yer sale. seller MUST provide it. on the title the seller keeps the "notice of transfer" and a "release of liability" form that can be downloaded from the dmv website... its up to HIM to file those 2 ASAP since if u crash the car its still in hi name and liable for it. you take the signed title to the dmv along with the smog certificate and have it put in your name.

you get hit with a bunch of fees. I ended up paying more in back fees on the XR4Ti than it cost to buy it. :(

Going to be doing the same thing with the Benz since the registration went out in April 08.

You don't need to smog it if its 4 years old or newer.
