1. Should have gotten the Vortech PIMP kit instead of the HO
2. You need some rims and a slight drop.
3. is that stripe candy red?
4. 4v is never ftw.

1. Bought the car early in 05 (one of the first) and the Vortech HO kit was the only thing available. At the time I wanted to go turbo (still do).
2. I agree. Eventually want some light weight rims like Bogarts but need to be streetable ...
3. The stripe is the same color red as the interior (forgot the actual name) and they are painted on. The car was 5 months old and my old garage door fell on the car and scratched the roof so we decided to stripe it.
4. Why hate on the 4 valve? Can make some serious power ....

 You beat me to it.
So we can thus conclude that all other blowers > Paxton Novi 2200. :look:
BTW, why do the 3V's have a such a gap between the hp/tq numbers?

Welcome to the site Rob. If you want lightweight wheels you can run on the street, check out the Weldstar from Weld. They come polished or with black anodized centers.

Not saying that at all. Novi kits make some power too. My numbers are higher than standard because I am pullied....

Centrifical superchargers almost always have the gap like that. Twin screws are usually close and Turbo's are usually higher in TQ (which gets you moving) ...

Reasearch means that you have actually taken the time to push the limits of your car and blown the engine to come to the clonclusion to figure out that pushing 4xx rwhp is pushing the limit not by going off of what you have heard...

what research? good tune and EFFICIENCY will make power. You cant put a certain number on reliability. It can blow up at 340rwhp with a bad tune. Or it can struggle to make 340rwhp with a non efficient power adder.
Theres many 2v's and 4v's that are past the "threshhold" that people swear by. A lot of people swear a stock 99/01 4v will blow up with a blower cause of its higher compression despite the hundreds out there proving them wrong.

Yes I am still stock. Stock motor, stock clutch, stock rear, hell even still driving on the stock tires from 2005 LOL. My only mods are the blower, lower control arms, Bassani High Flow cats and mufflers, GT500 pump, and a boost gage. That's it. I too have been hearing 450 max on the stock crank and rods. When we first did the blower we had it tuned to 450 and stopped and drove it like that for a couple of years with no problem. Then after seeing others pushing it we decided to step up a little. In all honesty if it's going to blow it will blow. A lot depends on the tune, driving habits, fuel, and how the car was built from the factory. I trust my tune, only run Chevron super (91 octane crap), and take care of my car BUT I do not baby it either. It
When I get the funds I will be pulling the motor and going forged and if the funding is there, going turbo.

Be happy you didn't go with a KB.
And as far as "when" a motor will go... sigh. I thought we have been over this ad nauseum.
The motor is only as good as the components within it. If you are upping the boost, you are increasing the risk that if something goes wrong (ie: it runs slightly lean and or, you have pre-ignition, etc) the motor with those given components will or will not be able to handle it.
Of course there are 2, 3 and 4v on stock motors that make more power than what is recommended, but then again there are excepions to every rule...
...for a while.
You can lessen the risk with adequate fuel, good tune, properly engineered quality parts, etc, but at the end of the day, it was high compression that made your internals and it will be high compression that will end their life.
I build cars per the customer's specification but always knowing and advising as I see it. If I have a customer for whom this is their daily, there is no need to risk blowing it for a slight bit more power. If it is a weekend car and the customer doesn't give a shit and just want's power, that is their prerogative, but it would be poor business ethics not to tell them what the consequences might be.
Rob is in the right mindset. He ran the motor on "safe" for a while and is now running it with more power knowing perfectly well that he is past the safe point. If it blows, it blows, but he ain't trying to justify it to himself and others that "there are other people out there doing xyz", cus it ain't those other folks that are gonna foot the bill when chunks of piston start visiting each combustion chamber or your block decides it needs some "non-stock air cooling passages".
