is there any way figuring out the value of a salvage vehicle? Is there anyway of making the salvage tittle go away? A buddy of mine was telling me that his cousin has a 96 impala ss and that is salvage due to theft (the interior was stripped outta of it,I think the wheels also) hes says its never been in an accident either, i still havent seen this car(only pics and it looks good),i believe the car has a 80k miles on it, and that this car was owned by Boyd Coddington, and used to have 22" forged wheels

I'm pretty sure you can't switch a Salvaged Title, its just being honest with them and wether they believe you or not. I remember i came accross a GT with like 40k miles, and said it had minor flooding, But carfax had it come from Texas, so i was kinda iffy, the seller was pretty shady, not wanting to smog the car at all.

I heard that if you register the car in another state and then bring it back and re-register it, the salvage title disappears....

But I really don't see what the point of that is...cause if you run a carfax it still shows the damages done

No way to legally wash a salvage "title" vehicle in CA. From my understanding, unscrupulous people wash titles by re-registering cars in different states. Sometimes the salvage title will disappear, but most likely not. Also, run a carfax. If it has a salvage title in carfax, then it will always show it.

I would say that a salvaged vehicle will be about 50-60% of its regular value. A car like an SS will never show a real value in KBB, since its kind of a collector car to the getto crowd.

If anybody needs help with the process of re-registering a car after it has been deemed "totalled" by the insurance company ... you are welcome to call me. (PM best 4 now) I'm a recent grad of that course in hell. :)

this car is black, but i really want a grey/blue one looks like a teal green. i know what you mean, people trash this cars by putting huge ugly wheels, a lot of them ended up in japan also. I've though about getting one and doing a ls1/ls2 swap, and i feel if i do this to clean tittle car i gonna fuck up its value also

Yea..was looking at used cars for the kid..Lots of Salvage Titles. I read if the damage is anywhere from 50-70% of the cars value it can be deemed a salvage. On an expensive car..stay away. But on a cheaper car worth maybe 5-6K, a $2500 bumber repair is not unheard of...so in that case may be worth it??

Also keep in mind all the flooding I hear lots of cars from Katrina are being "re-circulated"

i usually go about 1/2 to 1/3 of kbb value or even less. of course it depends on other things (condition, car, demand, whatever) but they're usually pretty worthless

The grammer police have got me....:look:

My offer still stands, "Salvage title" help? I'm available by PM.

Ball park "registered" salvage value is around 50% (In MOST cases.)
Note: HIGHLY desirable, well repaired, & re-registered salvage vehicle value can reach up 75% (Demand drives the market, so I've heard!)
