I am curious to see if anyone has done this....

Everyone know that the stock mustang lower rack joint on the steering shaft sucks ass. It makes the steering feel horrible and you loose response over time. So owners are forces to replace them sooner or later...i know i have.

Many of you know about the MM Solid steering shaft upgrade and how good it feels...

But Many people (Including Myself) are turned off by the cost of the MM part at $250. No doubt, the MM part is amazing, but when you can pick-up a low milage shaft off ebay for $20 as a replacement.

Since the weak spot is that damn rubber rag joint, then what if we could just replace the rag joint with another piece....maybe something out of Aluminum.

Well, i was reading other forums and noticed that BMW owners do the same thing because they have the stupid rubber joint. This Dude replaced his rag joint with a Aluminum unit. I also was reading that some E36 BMW owners even use a Hockey Puck.

Do you guys think this can be done on a Mustang 96-04? If that is possible that i might try it very soon....

HAHAHA at the hockey puck mod.

in my very first fox i took a piece of aluminum and made a solid rag joint since my rubber one was rotted.

dude, just get the MM shaft. I have it on my fox and the steering response is unreal. the adjustable length is also pretty cool.

But thats the thing. I just cant see that price justifying the mod.

...and the stock piece is also adjustable length. The only downside to the stock piece is that rubber joint.

I'm pretty sure the MM shaft has other differences besides not having that rubber piece. Get the shaft with the urethane swaybar endlinks (which are not expensive at all). Once, you feel the difference, you'll see that it was money well spent. Night and day difference. This ain't one of those mods you can "kinda" feel.

i think one of the features is for better clearance with longtubes, i definitely had to do some hammering to get clearance on bbk's. using a piece as big as a hockey puck would probably make it worse...
imagine if that thing got soft or melted from the heat...

screw him. if he wants to mickey mouse his steering, that's on him. maybe he can point his blu-ray pointer to let people know he's going over.
