Looking for a set of FRPP/Borla Stingers for an S197, would like to find them used. Or some other "straight through" muffler that will sound good (no to raspy/ratty) with a catted x pipe.

Can also trade (plus some cash) a set of SLP LoudMouths that I have sitting around, if someone is looking to ditch Stingers for no mufflers.

No those arent' the same ones. But I wouldn't mind them (I think) if I could find some used. I refuse to pay $500 for a set of mufflers, LOL.

Just looking to swap out my flowmasters for some sort of straight-through muffler that will not get as raspy with the X pipe I now have.

i agree with u on the price thing...$500 for some mufflers is retarded.

yea! That's why I went for the flowmasters when I first got the car, they were 1/2 the price (and even then, still way more expensive than buying "universal" mufflers). I did love how they sounded when I had an H pipe, but they get to raspy for my tastes with the X pipe. I've given them a few weeks to see if I get used to them, but I can't :) Sounds great at idle though!

Hey Daniel.

I just got an email a couple days ago from Bassani talking about how they are clearing out old inventory and offering killer deals on Mufflers. If you want, I'll give em a call on Monday and see what they got.

Last time they did this, they were selling their race mufflers for somewhere around 40 bucks ea. (Stainless Steel mind you)

Mark, yea, see what they have, that would be great :-) Anything that would sound good with a catted x pipe. I love the idle that the chambered flowmasters give, but under throttle, they have a strange "wave" of sound that comes and goes at certain RPMs (is this "trumpeting" that I hear about?), and I really just don't like it. :-)

From what I've heard on youtube, the bassani mufflers and bassani catted X pipe doesn't have any of the negative attributes that I don't like. So I'd probably be happy with them. However, what the heck is the difference between "composite" and "stanless steel"? Is it just what the outside shell is made of? or is it something internal that affects the sound? I've not really found anything online that tells the difference between the two.

the louds mouths are loud. It's no muffler, so you can probaby imagine that. Not horrible at idle, but at mild throttle and WOT, it's pretty darn loud, even with stock everything else, lol :D If you are interested in them, let me know. They are just sitting here, I'll take a reasonable offer for them.

Mark, can you see if they have 3" in/out race mufflers for cheap. I need two of 'em. I have cash in hand if they got them for a killer price...

Mark, did you get in touch with Bassani? I'm still casually looking for something better sounding on a catted X than the chambered flowmasters I have now.

X-pipe is where most of your problem lies as far as "raspy-ness & popping".

I personally don't like crapmasters , but maybe a high-flow H pipe is the answer, especially if you like that deeper rumble from your exhaust.

Btw I have the frpp/borla stingers, and they sound great, but there is a pretty heavy drown at 2K rpms.

Yea, I'm contemplating that, switching out the X pipe for an H pipe. Cause I really do like the sound of the flowmasters with an H pipe.

Wonder if I can leave the cats that came with the bassani, and swap out just the cross over pipe with not alot of cutting? That's what I didn't like on my old exhaust, it was so cut up, it was leaking everywhere (and also scraped everywhere). Damn these fucking mustangs, so finicky just trying to get a good sound! My old camaro, you could have put anything on it and it would have sounded pretty good.

True, but I liked it, and people were pretty often asking me to throw them a rev wanting to hear it :D

Going to try an H pipe instead of the X pipe, thanks though.
