For all you Taursus Sho lovers out there.

i just saw the new 2010 Sho. and all im gonna say is Shit!!!.. is that thing bad ass!

its got a 3.6l ecotec v6 twin (yes Twin)turbo charged engine.

365hp 350tw.. so much power that it couldnt be front or rear wheel drive. so its gonna be all wheel drive.

the car kicks major ass and looks pretty damn good too. and since i dont like the new mustang i will probably be getting one of these next.

there are only 5 so far. but once they work all the bugs out of the programming (of the robots not the car) the production will begin.

i got to see #4 before it got painted... again.

just wanted to let any sho lovers like Shaun know.

i give it 3 years before the start populating pick-a-part yards nationwide.

it doesnt matter how "bad ass" it may be, its too expensive, its ugly as hell, its a full size car, in a struggling economy, and its not their "sports car" line. i predict a "all new thunderbird!" type failure.

It COULD do ok Derrick.. if they keep it a "premium" type product, keep production low and slow and build it for those that asked for it and not try and make it an across-the-board kind of thing and start building them like crazy. Hope they have some good estimates on who would actually BUY this product.

From what I understand the SHO fans were really involved with this car and have been clammoring for it for years. But that sounds a lot like the mach 1 cars when they came out....

Ford marketing asked Mustang owners if they liked them, and would they like to see it in production, everybody screamed "HELL YEAH!" and then Ford built an assload of them, priced them too high (27-30k) and for the most part they sat on the lots until they went on clearance sales.

It very well could fit the bill that way... but what I'm afraid of is with Ford trying to roll out this new powertrain in this chassis and probably at least one other model, they might be really planning to build the shit out of them because its fits better into budgeting that way. But that doesn't mean they are gonna sell....

But maybe they have a trick up their sleeve...hell, they have managed to keep themselves out of bankruptcy court. Management seems to know whats going on.

Starts at 38k, then for the fully loaded track pack, it goes above 40k. Even though it's AWD, it can direct as much as 80% of the power to the rear wheels, and that makes me happy. AOL Autos had a first ride along, and it's said, the faster you go, the lighter it feels, and it's extremely well balanced.

I hope it's fairly successful, so I can pick one up in a couple years for 20k :look:.

High 30's eh?

I dunno guys. That is hitting 3-4 year old M3 territory and although the new SHO is nice, it ain't no M3.

Ford needs to start it off at 30k for a stripped down version and if you want the fully loaded starship enterprise with dual dylithium injected turbocharged warp cores and a mini Stephen Hawking brain in each wheel hub, so forth make it touch 40k.

Otherwise I think Ford might be building an awesome car that has outpriced its core market and is not appealing enough to get the true luxury sports sedan folks jazzed up enough to drop their BMW/Lexus/Infiniti roots.
Hell with the Genesis now out, it is even a tougher market.

89-95 Taurus SHO was around 28k, 96-99 was 30-32k. Adjust for inflation, you have a 38k car. If you read what's on the car, it's a pretty sweet deal. Yes, it has the dylithium turbos, and the warp drive.

I might have missed some sarcasm, and I understand the priorities (believe me I want to buy a new car right now SOOOOO bad) but seriously if those people that asked for it dont get out there and buy...and I'm talking BUY (at least 5k+ units per year in this spec unless this motor is available in another version of the Taurus) this thing will be gone in 3 yrs. Mark my words.

Yup, Ford brought people in from the SHOForum and had focus groups. They gave them everything, well, everything except the manual trans, but compromised by doing the paddle shifts. It's no doubt a sweet car, and I really hope it sells, so when I can, I can buy one new.

The Volvo platform technology is coming at a price.

I fear th3 resale prices will fall like a hummer in 5 years with so much gadgetry to keep well maintained.

I gotta say though, +1 for Ford creating a buzz with this offering. :banana2:

well so far fords resale values have been very good. the s197's are worth more than the sn95's after the same ages.

For once the specialty vehicles are also keeping their value VERY well. The GT500's are still worth a lot. The terminators value dropped just about the same as the other SVT models.

Fords doin good IMO, its just happening slow. And they have to price the cars right. A GT500 will sell no matter what. Mustang has idiot consumers that will pay. A taurus? i dont think so. Id say after the SHO freaks buy them the sales will even out or fall, but those are some cheap bastards as is :look:

what about the 8.8 is "15th century"?

if you really want to go back to the dark ages and make that comparison valid, you would be referring to the venerable 9-inch rear end, which is quite possibly THE best rear axle ever built.

and yes nick, there is a reason and it's not the one you think. it's called cost efficiency.
