After a long uphill battle Chevykiller is running strong. It will go out to the track when they open up in Jan. For those that dont know the car had a 3.4 Whipple that we tuned to a 9.6 in the 1/4 mi. His blower locked up and he decided to step up to twin turbos. We took the car basically down to the shell and started from scratch. RET built a custom twin 67mm turbo kit, Mikes trans th400, 8.8 with 9" ends, manual brakes, manual steering, Big Stuff 3, AMS 1000, Rich Grove longblock, JPC intake, and we made this thing not only make power, but to look like a show car to boot. We also re did the cage properly behind the dash instead of running in front of it.
Couple shots of what the car was down to....

Heres some pictures taken while on the dyno. Notice the HP line before 6500 rpms going straight up before the intake pipe blew off the intake, and the tires started spinning lol We will weld a bracket so that wont happen again. Since its running a oval throttle body thats the only pipe that doesnt have a V-band.

His WHipple/spray was maxed at 790, this one is still going up if the tires hold.

So we took it to Irwindale last week for the first time. Only made 2 runs and called it a night. Driver needs to get familiar with the car, no biggie. The linelock decided to stick so no burnouts at all. Cant footbrake because of dual calipers. I set the 2 step very low since no burnout didnt want to smoke the tires. Left on 3# of boost and ran 15# total boost and went 6.31@116. Next time out going to launch on 8# and run 20# total. When everything is solid it will be turned up to 30psi. As you can see that 6.3 run is at around 50% of what it can do :asthanos:

Took her to the 1/8 mi. First run went 5.9@118 w/a 1.41 60' Looking at the datalog I saw it was launching off 5#, and 18# total. Raised the 2 step leaned it out a little on the trans brake and added 2# total boost. Car launched carried the front wheels to the tree about 3" off the ground and cut a 1.30 60'. Right before the 330' broke the u joints on the drive shaft lol Next week go at it again...
Car is at about 70% of the potential. Still have 12# left on tap....

Meant to ask you last night, but what causes him to almost always hit the limiter? Is he not shifting fast/soon enough or is it an issue with his tranny setup and the amount (and type) of power he's making?
Greg@RET

Is he not shifting fast/soon enough
Driver needs lots of work. The last run we set his shift light earlier to give him more time to shift.
