Anybody know of any shops that safely mount and balance wheels, preferably in the LA area

Only place I like is Tucker Tire in Covina. They fucked me over once, when they broke a center cap on my FX4. I didn't go their for the next couple years, but decided I could give them another try. So far so good.

Tucker tire gets my biz 100% of the time even though I have noticed that the average IQ out in the shop has dropped over the last few years.

They just did the rear tires on the Cobra. No problems. In and out of there in 20 min.

tire central (san gabriel) did a set of four 18x9/10.5's for $40 a set.
it's getting close to normal for the smaller shops but they do a pretty good job.
plus their equipment isn't extremely old like some of the $5-10 per mount mechanics
always remember to check your center caps! i haven't lost any before but any shop might forget/not snap it in all the way/etc

I know its old, but bump for the orange county area? I'm expecting my 18x9s this week and do not want some incompetent fool to scratch them up. Anyone ever tried tucker tire in Laguna Niguel? (closer than convina) Are they the same company or unrelated?)

I dont know if they are related... but I have seen the name before (I used to work in O.C. for a few years). Might call them and see if they are the same owners.

If not, Covina isnt that far a drive from Tustin. ;)

City Tire in South Gate FTW! They campaign a drift car and a time attack car and do side projects for a lot of racer's personal rides (no stranger to low or perf susp). My brother works for the race division of Yokohama and he gets his personal time attack car's tires mounted/balanced and the car aligned there. He also gets many of Yokohama's project cars aligned there.

I can't find one bad review/comment about city tire. Ugh its a little far out for me here in tustin, but it seems like its the place to go. Thanks for recommendation

hey hey I work at one... honestly some may do crappy work but even if they do, (scratch or dent anything) the store will reinburse you even if its a little scratch (store policy)

I was gonna have my tires mounted at my store (I cant work on my own car) and have one of the other techs do it, but say bad luck something happens to my car or wheels they for sure will think we both set it up... and possibly both lose our jobs. (I went to an ep tech and master tech class that pep has and even one of the trainers said to never let anyone drive my car cause pep boys would not be happy buying a turbo mustang lol ) We have everything from idiots who work at pep boys to master techs (every store is required to at least have 1 master tech)

I really think allot of the screw ups come from mechanics rushing since they get paid per flagged hour. I usually flag 15-6 hours in an 8 hour shift on good days :)
