Exhaust?

I'm looking into getting a new exhaust this December, and was wondering what some other people have and how they like them. I was thinking about Magnaflow, Borla, or a Roush extreme performance one.
Any suggestions?

simplest and cheapest. Chop the muffler off and put a pipe in place. Sounds better than all the 300-500 dollar kids.

my car is off road and with resonators....theres no way in hell a muffler delte 05 will sound 1/4th as loud as my car

all the axle backs for the s197's sound odd. the cars sound wierd they dont have a muscle OR exotic sound. no muffler like mario and rito sounds really agressive and throaty

I have had no less than 7 customers this year come to me with that setup to get either their stock shit put back on or a decent axleback as they were pulled over by the po po for excessive noise.

its a risk ofcourse. I dont see a point in doing exhaust if you dont want to make it a bit louder. Unless its a F/I car no one is definately doing it for power... I dont expect everyone or even 5 other people to want it as loud as my car but if the law is such a huge concern then leave it stock.I see no feasable reason to spend 300-500 or more to make it a TAD louder. Most catbacks are not legal as the standard db level is EASILY blown.

also, put ur front plates back on, remove HID's, and tint. All attract cops too.

your car is in the top 3 loudest cobras I have ever seen in the street.But it sounds good.

S197s are the hardest mustangs to find the right exhaust for, but from my experience the one's i recommended are imo are your best choices

in person the borla stingers do not sound stock they sound great but they do drone

I have gotten ONE ticket for modified exhaust in the 3 years ive had it (goin on 4). So if anyone with a quieter exhaust is getting hassled by cops.....they probably drive like asshats.

Not like "omg that fuckers loud!!" but more like "thats a nice exhaust setup that stang has". IMO thats the tone im talking about in this whole thread. Id hate for me or others to say "....is it stock? or do they come that loud". That means a lot of coin went in to not know the difference.

A lot of people posting in here lol. Straight pipe AKA SLP sounds like complete SHIT. I ran SLP for like a month and it was horrible. I've been through my fair share of exhaust set ups, o/r H, catted H, o/r X, catted X, tons of axle backs. Here's my opinion:

Corsa (if you keep a CATTED MID PIPE) sound AMAZING
Borla (fantastic but there is a tad bit of drone, will sound good with a x pipe)
Magnapacks(sound great with either catted or o/r h or X but the tips are ugly)
Bassani Race mufflers (perfect)
Flowmaster (stay away)
JBA(nice tips but too quiet...really good for old timers)
Gibson(another amazing set of tips but quality and sound wasnt too good)
Magnaflow mufflers( sound GREAT but a tad too quiet for my taste)
SLP(GARBAGE)

ive had flowmaster, spintech, dynomax, etc and always hated something about em. the drone, the raspy sound, and that they were just loud ALL the time. it gets old after a while.

I was thinking of also doin bassani's but its true i have magnaflow now on my 3v n its quiet untill about 2.5k and then u hear it roar pretty nice so im debating if i should actually switch or not

Jose and I are both running Bassani setups (but he's a 4V... anyway).

When I added the race axlebacks, it added some volume and tone (along with some drone) but when I added the catted midpipe, it added more rasp and a LOT more volume - enough to set off sensitive car alarms, esp. if I'm in a parking structure. Driven by lots of cops and haven't been pulled over or anything yet.

Anyway I love my Bassani setup :thumbsup:

I am sure people have dyno sheets that show "tq gains" Juan with those mods. The problem is those gains are NEVER in the low end in fact there is tq LOSS in the low end.

Imo exhaust should be quite when need to be and loud when need to be :) mine on the take off though its a little to loud. I had a friend drive my car the other day and I can hear it about 1 block away.

Guy with an obnoxiously loud exhaust reporting to this thread. My Mustang is really loud and i havent gotten pulled over for exhaust and haven't been given any exhaust violation ticket or whatever they are called.

I've seen guys with a much quieter exhaust than mine get pulled over and given a ticket for having their exhaust too loud yet i havent had any encounters with the cops.

They way it is is if you drive like an asshat then you will be getting pulled over. If you drive normal and like a civilized person then you wont get pulled over or be hassled.

Mark, you may have "experiance" with talking to your customers about them getting pulled over but until YOU have experiance of your own then you can just stay out of the loud exhaust topic.

I think its all of the below

1.Where you live (more chances being pulled over for loud exhaust in Beverly hills then compton)

2.The way you drive, if you drive nice and calm and follow the laws then less of a chance.

3.Depends what other laws your breaking (no front plates,dark tint)

4.Depends how loud it is (if its way to loud and annoying then IMO your getting pulled over)

5.Luck

6.The way you look. (my girl never ever got pulled over driving cars with tinted windows for 7 years always limo tint. I drove her car with limo and in 4 months was pulled over and got a ticket, bald mexican yep his getting pulled over)

Either way you can be driving a bone stock car and if the cop is a $#$* your getting pulled over even if you don't brake the law. (happened to my girl when she first got the camry and it didn't have tinted windows cop said it had expired tags... ya right lol brand new 1 month old tags)
