Ok when I bought my car it had a clunking sound coming from the front passenger wheel. "dealer had no clue what it was they had replaced parts but with used ones" so I got them to take $500 off the price"

Changed strut, out tie rod, and sway bar bushings (all of them where bad) but I still heard a noise which sounded like coming from the dash or something. Soo me and my co worker (we have combined 30 years automotive experience) check it out some more and all the suspension seems fine (besides bad rack and pinion lol)

So the only thing I can find was the shaker rattles so I raised it some and it seems to have went away but I need to test drive it more. I am so fed up :angry2: lol I also torqued EVERY single screw suspension wise this last time around.

I think it might be the CC plates maybe if it keeps doing it and maybe even the rack but it seems to only do it when the passenger side wheel hits a bump not the driver side.

I am so fed up lol next time if it keeps doing it im changing the rack and pinion and lower control arm and if that doesnt work im lighting a match to it :angry2:

it has camber plates on it? if so, thats probably the cause.

Ya it has some and they are pretty old... It would just suck changing them out and not being it lol (everything else I have changed was bad so it needed to be replaced anyways)

Before I replaced stuff pushing the car up and down it would make the clunking sound now after replacing the stuff I cant get it to make the noise only when driving.

if the c/c plates are not setup right, the nut on the top of the strut shaft could be bottoming out before it gets tight, so the strut could be moving up and down over rough pavement.

I had a similar issue and re-measuring the strut setup and changing the spacers config around fixed it.

Well can someone help in giving an idea how to adjust them please.

Car came with them already installed

it has about 1 1/2" of spacers on the strut shaft below the plate and another spacer on top. Seems tight to me??? Maybe someone who has done this before can come over and help me diagnose it. I'll pay you I'm just sick of the noise.

I even tightend it with an impact gun the snap on 725 and still clunkys lol

Oh ya and it's back if I bounce the passenger side of the car I can hear the noise it's just hard to tell where it's coming from but inside the car it does sound like the cc plate is loose or worn out

Ok im on american muscle and I got the pics from their, Mine are from maximum motorsports to.

Mine are installed like so

The car is lowered though and according to A/M it should be installed like so.. Dunno if that would cause it to make noise since both sides are installed the same and only one makes noise

that's exactly how mine was setup and it clunked on passenger side only, mm plates with bilstein struts.

the nut is bottoming out before the strut is actually tight, the spacers take up the threads at the top of the strut so the nut doesn't have to go down as far before it tightens up.

So you put them like in the second picture and the clunking stopped?

I followed the instructions to measure and make them perfect, the instructions for your car are these -

So what I am guessing is that the strut shaft is bottoming out. (probably why it doesnt make any noise when I rock the car up and down a little but when I do it hard it does)

I am gonna switch both struts shims tommorow and see what happens.

Thanks guys for the help and especially blind.

Switched both and no luck clunking still going on :(

I did notice one thing though.... The bearing where the noise is coming from is WAY more loose then the one that isnt... So I am guessing that the bearing is bad in the MM caster camber plate. I think since it was installed incorrectly it messed up the strut and the bearing.

that's possible, I would contact MM tech support, they could help you out and I know they can sell you just that part separately.

the MM c/c plates are the best on the market, and they have the best support that I've dealt with.

Thanks for all you help! :)

I was waiting all day for ups he shows up at 5:30 and I right away start putting it on, the new bearing is way stiffer. I drove it 20 miles and no a single noise :)

Now that the struts are new and almost everything else the car also rides so much better. Almost like my camry lol almost
