see if you can get an extending warranty on the strips since it seems to be a reoccurring problem or or can return the car "lemon law"....... :lol3:

You need a car cover or invest on getting a car port/canopy to minimize this problem... :keke:

bad form old bean, bad form. :hammer:

and i agree, if oxidation is a problem with the stripes, get a car cover with good UV protection, park the car in a garage, or just get them painted on.

i admit im a n00b @ this oxidation stuff. so imma just flat out ask,

why does this happen to jaimes caR and not other cars that have their stripes put on by dealerships?

well, his stripes originally came from the factory. the replacement also came from there, but were installed at the dealer. now, he's having to go in for yet another replacement, again factory stripes. all the dealer is doing is installing them.

if this is a recurring thing, the problem is probably with the manufacture of the stripes. sort of like how some ford paints in the 80's and 90's had serious issues with premature oxidation. rio red anyone?

yes he did Damon but this is not Jaime's fault. I wonder what kind of guarantee there going to give him for these strips.

I don't think i would go with an ez up. While they are great for what they do they are meant for mobile tents so you can take them anywhere. I have seen alot fail in high winds and while I don't know windy it gets where you park your car I would hate to see it fall on your car. They just have so many hinges and joints that if any of them fail its coming down.

hey Jaime why dont you build a carport?

Blanco32v
05-07-2009, 03:58 PM
i second (or third, lol) that you see if ford will keep replacing them after the warantee is done since you KNOW its gonna happen. And in the mean time, save to just have them painted on. I think its that they are flimsy ghey vynle stripes. Even the Ford GT had cheezy stick on stripes, not painted. Painted stripes would look sweet

I would take it somewhere else and see if they will pay for it.The vynil they are using is probably cheap and has no UV coating.I have had vynil on my boat for about 3 years and have had no problems

Try putting wax on them regularly
