:) looks funny without the alternator/smog pump on the other side.

*this is just a quick mock up, I haven't prepped and painted the p/s side brackets yet

http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e237/blindbatts/mustang/motor/IMG_1171Large.jpg

I painted up the intake and sanded back the paint on the lettering of the intake manifold though, doesn't look bad IMO, better than before, the powder coating was pretty jacked up on it from rubbing on the hood liner or something.

Well the motor's "done" and ready to drop in, started hiding the engine bay wiring today, so close to back together... Plan is all motor brackets will be black like the motor, and all accessories (p/s, a/c, blower, alternator) will be silver like the water pump.

Random question. I never took out my engine or any car engine before. But is it hard to do? I want to rebuilt it and maybe do HCI.

Blind
05-10-2009, 07:48 PM
it's not hard at all, takes me about 2 hours to get a 5.0 out, all you really need to do is unplug the engine harness from the main harness, pull the driveshaft, pull the motor mount bolts, unhook the fuel lines, vacuum lines, throttle/cruise cable, etc.

best advice is to go slow, in case you missed unhooking something that wants to keep the motor in the car when you're lifting it out ;)

I'll be doing something similar in the Oinker in the next few weeks.

Did you clean and spray bomb everything or did you powdercoat?

thanks :)

wire wheeled, 140 grit sanded, simple green/wiped off, spray bombed, duplicolor high temp engine ceramic paint

was planning on powder coating but the place totally flaked, I can't wait anymore so I did it all myself.

I figure with the accessories silver I always have the option of going gay in the future and polishing them to match the procharger, haha.

I can't weld and filling them with filler or fiberglass weighs a shitload more than I'm willing to put on the nose of the car...so no, I'm not filling the holes, just hid the harness's in the fenders.

well its factory ford color code b7, so Its not that new to the mustang world, the color was on 94is GTs, you might have seen them before, slightly brighter then the 98s, anyway. and the door handles both broke! so instead of installing new ones, I just got rid of them, and the side molding i have sitting in my closet, Ive been scared to death to stick them on, I just know they would fall off on the road and never be seen again, they are painted and nice and safe in my closet....

good solid weekend wrenching, but there's something wrong with the procharger tensioner, the snap ring keeps popping up out of the slot on the brass adjuster nut so I can't actually adjust the tension, I tried new snap rings, re-tapped and died the adjuster bolt and the brass nut, ugh no dice.

oh well, here's pics of how it sits now, need to pickup an alternator because the one on the `91 blew up so I had to steal the one off the `89, no biggie.

I saw the filter routed that way on that white with red stripes s197 in mm&ff. The one participating in the silver state 200mph challenge.

Did you guys ever get a chance to check out the dual procharger intercoolers that mount behind each corner of the bumper cover? :pimp:

Killer95Stang
09-12-2009, 11:58 AM
Prochargers always have the filter mounted like that, right over the hot radiating headers. I remember seeing an SN95 kit about 10 years with the signature crushed filter sitting up their and said to myself... wow... :boost:

Maybe some kind of heat shield like on turbocharged vehicles would help.

Not shown is just the stock clutch fan and shroud, my old mark8 fan setup doesn't fit.

Anybody have any bright ideas for an overflow bottle for the coolant? Right now I just have the overflow hose running into the fender but that's not really a longterm solution and would get me booted off a track when I go through tech I'm sure. Procharger instructions just say - "with 12 rib systems, modification or relocation of the coolant overflow may be necessary" - Uhm, yeah thanks

As for the coolant overflow bottle, if you don't use your windshield washer, you can connect a line from the radiator to the washer reservoir. Billy (mc0311grunt) did it on his fox. Talk to him about how to do it.

Blind
10-15-2010, 07:05 PM
hmm, I don't and that's a good idea but the powerpipe will be taking up most of the room where the washer bottle originally was located once I get the 5" hole cut into the fender unfortunately.

others I've seen run the overflow on the opposite side of the bay where the airbox normally would be.

way too many bends from the cooler to the t-body.. should have one bend from the cooler and a strait pipe to the t-body, the maf flange welded in that pipe and NO rubber elbows... I would have turned the cooler around so the outlet would be at the bottom for a better shot to the t-body... it will work either way but the drive-ability will be way better with less bends and less rubber hose..

I will probably try to come up with a straighter shot to the t/b in the future, but for now I just did everything according to the procharger instructions.
