I drove a 2009 VW GTI today. Man was I surprised with how much that car gets up and GOES!! I was not expecting that whatsoever. That FSI 4 banger engine is pretty adept (200hp/207tq). No lag at all.

Plus, the interior is put together really well.

Not sure I am getting one at all, but it was a fun little car.

Going by the little bits and pieces of what's going on I think you need to live a "simpler life" for a while. Unless your situation isn't as bad as u make it. If I could, id ditch the cobra and have no payment and drive something that just drives me were I need to for a little while. Then get into something nice again in less than 2 years. Just my .02 steve not talkin shit. I'm in a shitty situation myself here.

Update!!!

Ok, so it looks like the GTI is going to be the car after all.

The wife wants a New Beetle, and I am thinking that if we get TWO VW's instead of one, that will sweeten the deal (yes or no?).

So the CTS and Tacoma will be repo'd out, but with the debt consolidation program I am going with, they will be included in the overall payoff of all debt.

So yeah, my credit is gonna be fucked for awhile, but hey, that's life (thanks you fucking Stepfather in Law for ruining it! Asshole!).

Anyhow, I have only 4 color choices, white, black, red or dark gray. What color would YOU choose? :whoknows:

Wife wants a white beetle, and I know I am not getting red. So which one? Black or Gray?

why not get something much cheaper? Not sure I understand what you are doing, you're going through debt consolidation, but yet you are about to take on two new cars? Why not get used ones? you'll save alot of money :cool4:

We are going to LEASE both cars, and for 60 months. I'd rather get new then used, and VW offers 3 years/36 months free maintenance on all new VW's. Can't beat that.

Plus, I have driven the new GTI and it is a great little car. For the price, you can't beat it.

$600 total payments instead of $1,200 payments we have now, is 50% less. We also have to move to a cheaper place, and will save money there.

Save money in gas as well. All I want to do is just SAVE MONEY right now. In a few years, things may change, but for now, this is what works.

if all you want to do is SAVE MONEY, then yes, you can completely beat a brand new GTI. :aaron: Get an early 2000's Civic or something. If I was that hard up for money, I would not look at anything new, to me it just doesn't make sense. :) but in any case, good luck!

hmm, i dont see any savings in leasing. Youve been leasing since the mach 1 back in 03. thats 6 years of payments without every paying a car. So youre always gonna be paying a car note. Thats not saving thats continuous spending :look: . Id rather buy something to pay it off so that i can really SAVE later. Leasing is ftl. but whatever floats your boat i guess

Hello?? One reason I am leasing new is to get the 3yrs/36,000 free scheduled maintenance.

And I never said there was anything with getting a used car. If VW is going to deal with me, and I need two car payments equaling $600 TOTAL, then I am going to have to lease. Plus, the wife wants a New Beetle.

Sheesh...People really hate on the leasing.

so, other than scheduled maintenance, why do you prefer leasing to owning?

Martini
05-13-2009, 10:20 AM
I honestly think that you're making a bad financial desicion. leasing or buying you are NOT in the market to do so.

you say you have a debt consolidation loan. why not add the cars onto the loan so they dont get repo'd at all and you save your credit a little of the hit.

I see charge offs, debt trasfered all day here where i work.

in the situation you are in i think the safest way to go (even with the free maintenance) is to not buy anything or lease anything. you are only making your situation worse. cause not only do you have the debt consolidation loan you're going to have the car notes (even though they're 1/2 of what you're paying not) and repos on your record.

If i were you. I would not be going to a dealer trying to get a new car(s) before the repo hits your record. and on that note if they dont hit your record you're going to find it hard to find a dealer that will work with your cause your debt income ratio is going to be scewed cause of the 1200/mo car notes you have now.

honestly take you time

I've never said you have to "own" a mustang to be a stang enthusiast, I would however appreciate non-stang owners not coming on this site and talking smack about our stangs.

Does this make any sense to LAMC'ers?

What is funny, is I agree with your statment entirely. Just because I now drive a GTI instead of a Ford product is because of all the stuff throw in, AND it being a very fun car to drive.

I have screwed the pooch when it comes to spending because I am an absolute retard when I have money. I am lucky enough to have a family that is there to help me. I love my family...Always have (regardless of how they have helped me).

I just don't understand why I can't say what I want about Ford products without being thrown under a bus.

Sure, Ford is doing great and I am happy about it. I just happen to not like the new Mustang design. I'm sorry, but that is how I feel.

Bottom line, Jeff...I love you man. You have been nothing but nice to me and vice versa.

Welcome back Steve!

Your MK5 Golf GTi is like-able enough, but its greatness does not lessen the capabilies of the 2010/2011 mustang. Styling wise, I tend to feel that the back end got hit with the fugly stick.

Will the fugly 2010/2011 sell? Probably. Would I prefer to "build-up" an 05-09...very likely as I really like their looks, and the cost of entry into the game is going to be a deciding factor!

Because most people dont give a shit about Ford and their new motor.
