Yes, the fit fine when sitting still, start to turn the bitch and its a whole different story. I beat the piss out of the inner wheel houses to get more clearance, and it still rubs in tight turns.

I aint looking at either really as project cars. Twisted will always be the favorite that gets the most attention, but since it is going under the knife, it would be nice to have another mustang (or two) to driver around and after all, the 97 was technically free and the the 91 was damn near free for the price I paid.
The 97 I just have to find the time to swap the motor from the busted 99 cobra to the good one and that one is done, I just have not had the time.

The 91 runs like a charm despite the miles, hell even the AC blows 62 degrees in the fucker. It has bilsteins and subframes and comes with a boatload of parts including a t5 bellhousing if I ever cared to swap it over. I didn't exactly want to buy it but for the price I just could not say no. I would have been smacking myself for months if I passed on this deal.

The 97 is only worth something if it runs and for a little over the price of a set of ported 4v heads and cams I can build a complete shortblock for the notch.

The one major good thing about foxes are the wide availability and inexpensiveness of parts as compared to the modular stuff. I am not about to go screw that up.

Nah. Notch might get a motor (pushrod) and trans but mainly suspension goodies and a fresh coat of paint...

... although I do have an extra IRS laying around.... hmmm.

Never said it had to be N/A.

All he would have to do is pick up a cheap used Novi 2000 kit for the 99/01s. Stock heads/cams/intake and a forged bottom end and it will see 700+rwhp. Plenty enough to push that lil notch faster than Mark will prolly want to go.

I'm willing to bet a forged bottom end on a 4V (with stock HCI) is cheaper than a forged bottom end plus heads plus intake plus cam on a pushrod and they will both have the same potential for power when boosted...

BISKIT
07-27-2009, 03:29 PM
Depending on how much I like the car I might be willing to put some money into the fox but if ANY car is getting forged ANYTHING it will be Twisted.

Every time I step on the gas and almost immediately hear the wastegates opening but the car still pulling like a freight train I am tempted to just up the boost.

But then common sense kicks in and I realize that at the most I have maybe another 60-70 horses left on the table before the motor will scatter itself into a billion pieces.

That set of hairdryers I will bet my next 3 months pay on are only running even at WOT at maybe 20-30 percent of what they are capable of.
Now THAT is what I would be more than willing to drop some coin on and see what is what.

Yeah but who is wasting money on forged 302 or even stroker stuff to put in a shitty stock block. I know I'm not....my new 347 crank is costing me about 235 bucks shipped.

Put a cast stroker crank in there for a couple hundred bucks and see where you stand at the 500-550 rwhp mark as thats when the stock 5.0 casting becomes a liability anyway.

Now if you're talking about an aftermarket block or even a stock 351 stroker block with all new nice forged stuff to stand up to a blower setup then the modular stuff probably is cheaper. But its not really apples to apples anymore.

heh, now we're talking. Dart released a block with a lot of strength not too long ago. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but is good up to 700hp. Hell, you can get a complete Dart shortblock from them now at GREAT prices.

or a stock 6.0 from a truck that already can handle plenty for about $1200.

That's right, I forgot about the crappy stock block. That just furthers my point. If you are in possesion of two stock motors, a 5.0 and a 4V, and lets just say we are shooting for 600rwhp (boosted obviously), I believe it is cheaper to get there with the 4V

the dart SHS block goes for about 1600 and can go 4.125 bore. Boss block also at around 1600 bucks.
