Believe it or not, they don't have it in my area. Weird thing is tho, Verizon tore up all the streets around here in my neighborhood less then a year ago.

the 20/5 package I got includes phone, internet and TV (dont remember how many channels, but its got HD channels in it and thats what I care about) and its 110 bucks...which is the middle package they are doing on the promotion right now. And then after 60 days they send you a 150 bucks visa gift card.
This fuckin deal is KILLER.

That might have been for phone lines or maintenance I'll bet... apparently they hang the boxes out on the poles and then run the fiber line directly to the convertor box mounted outside your house when you order. Thats where the insane speeds come from.

Don't believe that was phone lines or he's not in the fios zone.

It's a drop from the pole and the box is on your house

not bad kevin. the most U-verse has is 18Mbps, and that speed alone is 75/mo just for the internet
I've got 6Mbps and it's not too bad. The TV is where it really shines though... tons of nice features there.

FIoS is win. If it was available in my area, I'd drop cable for it in a second. My cable speeds are 15/2, but Time Warner has something called "Powerboost" which doubles your download rate for the first few minutes of your download, but it's not consistent.

Yeah fuck Time Warner... when I first got cable internet it was pretty good, but as people in the neighborhood got it, it went downhill. And customer service was non existent.

checkout the online services from verizon for your TV -
http://www36.verizon.com/fiostv/MyAccount/members/home.aspx
I've had FIOS since launch day ~4 years ago, and with the online stuff I get to add/delete shows from my DVR sitting at home, from anywhere :)

I so wanted FioS, but it's not offered in my area 90008 :(
I had TWC, they suck for service and pricing, so I went with Dish Network....good prices and lots more HD channels. Internet I had to do TWC, but it's pretty quick, I have their like TURBO or whatever. When I get home I want to check the speed...is it speedtest.net?
dmark101
05-01-2009, 12:50 PM
yes, it's speedtest.net.
me? i ditched the tv service from charter due to the simple fact that they had so few HD channels. their pricing wasn't too bad, but i didn't like that their non-promo prices were a lot higher when compared to the service i switched to: directv. i had the dish when i first moved in here, but switched to charter so i could get their high speed internet, not for their pricing.
i'm happy with their internet, so i kept it when i switched the tv. :)

im with dish now and was thinking of switching to someone else I dont get fios in my area and im about to check about uverse. but I doubt its offered :( how is direct tv's HD line up?
dmark101
05-01-2009, 02:48 PM
it's not bad. with the plus option, you get a lot of channels in HD, like speed tv, cartoon network, sci fi channel and a lot of others.
with charter, i was barely getting maybe 15 HD channels, including the local channels.
Kameleongt

maybe ill try out direct after comparing it seems they are very similar to dish with the hd line up
