I would have a difficult time believing that Chevy would kill off the Vette, but in these times who knows!

Vettes aren't going anywhere. Chevy is the best selling GM brand right now. They are expanding big time in China and Russia. So regardless of what the govt. does for GM ($$$) they will not be reducing their product lines as the govt sees fit.

That article is simply a piece of opinion. Very little fact in it at all.

-Srsly, park a nice or flashy Vette around alot of foot traffic, and you'll see more dudes breaking in to converse than the wimminz. :look:

what annoys me about these types of articles, is that I think they have a pretty good potential to in some way aid their own claims, "self fulfilling prophecy" of sorts. If people start talking about and believing that a particular line of car is going to be killed (and taking actions alike), I think in some part actually helps contribute to making that speculation turn true. I don't know how much it aids, (maybe a little, maybe alot?) but I think these types of articles certainly don't help the fact that were in hard times.

What the hell purpose does this type of article serve? Nothing but generating rumors, as far as I'm concerned. Now, if they had some sort of quote from GM as to the effect of "we are contemplating killing the Corvette", then that would be news (although, would still be somewhat aiding self-fulfillment I think), but at least at that point it would actually be news, not just pure speculation.

I agree that the Vette aint going anywhere (but past me and onward to warp 9) but as far as the "expansion" is concerned, all chevy is doing is rebadging Daewoos and selling em as Chevy in Europe and Asia.

They are actually serious piles o' poo.

pure speculation :jerkit:

a move largely seen as giving in to Washington, General Motors recently closed it High Performance Vehicles division. The HPV team was largely responsible for GM's most exciting cars including the Cadillac CTS-V and the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1

Putting a stop the the HPV team and ZR1 doesn't mean Vette is going to be killed, or doesn't mean the vette ISN"T going to be killed. Just means they stopped one of the high end special limited editions. If ford stopped making the GT500-KR, would you be afraid that the mustang was going to be killed? I sure wouldn't. We don't have a cobra anymore (I think?) but we've still got a mustang.

Still pure speculation as far as I'm concerned.

my point is ur trying to discredit the article by saying there was no real news there. i didnt know that happen and theres a bit more info i didnt know was there either... maybe im just late because i thought the zr1 was doing good

They might be rebadged Daewoos and they might be piles of shit, but the numbers dont lie.... Chevy is the fastest selling brand for GM in those places. Buick is the major player in China.

Chevy isn't going anywhere....

yea there may be some news in there, but there's speculation too, particularly on the part of what the title and intro paragraphs read, about the vette being killed. I think news shouldn't have much (any?) speculation in it. That's what makes news so crappy. If I want news, I just want the facts. I don't usually want someone elses opinion and speculation, unless it's predictions about something that can't be changed by public opinion, like a hurricane :keke:

There isn't any news there.... the HPV killing was announced months ago if I remember correctly. And the ZR1 isn't about doing well or doing bad.
Its a premium model of Corvette and just like Cobras or Shelbys or whatever you wanna call them today; Corporate doesn't rely on those cars to make or break their balance sheets. But they will always be the first products killed when times get tough.
if things get really wacky I wouldnt be surprised to see the Vette go away for a couple years like it did in the early 80s and like the Camaro did in 02 or whenever that was.... but it'll always be back.

Corvette is actually a great seller for a car in it's class. I see a lot of C6s.

true.... but I'm talking about how Chevy takes the car out of production a while and then bring it back bigger and better.
Thats kinda cool how they do that....

True. Off topic, saw an '09 powder blue M3 today with an aftermarket hood, slammed, and on gunmetal 20s today. Man, I want that car. I'll smap a pic of it tomorrow. The guy owns a biz in the same building where I work.

Pics ... or it didn't happen. :look:

I think some form of a Corvette must happen. Even some of the Senators and Congressmen drive them ... and if they bailout their banks, they will pressure that their 'Vettes survive too.

-now, as for the vets (real ones,) being screwed? .... sad to say, but they will be underfunded as they come home for sure.

Chevy would kill the Tahoe before it would take the corvette out.
